I’m hunting for a new fly sheet. I almost ordered a Rambo protector, but then I read a few reviews indicating that it could be tight through the shoulder. My horse has large upright shoulders. So I’m still shopping around. Reviews indicate the Amigos have similar shape to Rambos. I have used Weatherbeeta winter blankets on him and while not awful, they don’t particularly fit his shoulders super well. I presume their fly sheets would have a similar construction. I’m considering trying one of the Schneiders Vtek sheets. In particular the mosquito mesh. Has anyone used one of their sheets? Other options? Go ahead with Rambo or Amigo? Are they tight on sloped or upright shoulders? Horse is not particularly wide through chest. But has upright angles.
Needs: fit for large upright shoulders, protection against Florida swamp bugs from tiny no seeums to giant horse flies, breath ability
Wants: UV protection, durable enough to last a whole season on a horse that is turned out individually and is generally easy on clothes
Also, does UV protection help horse feel cool? The Amigo Bug Buster claims 90% UV protection and sun reflecting properties. Is that going to help him feel less hot? Horse is stalled during the worst of heat and sheet is removed, so it’s not like he will be out 24/7 baking in the FL heat.
Thanks for your opinions!
