Fly Sheets with Colors to deter “Sight Flies”

I’m personally a fan of the zebra look; :grinning: If you want to experiment with the pattern, I buy the Tough-1 Zebras. They are one of the lightest fly sheets for our Florida location. They are pretty cheap and my horse is a saint about his wardrobe so they last me a long time.

As a slightly biased owner, I would say that my horse looks good in anything, and he is quite secure in his manhood so he doesn’t care what I put on him, lol

EDITED to add: I love the purple plaid!!!

Ok that doesn’t look too bad! I might try one of those too if I can find one with a neck cover.

I posted this picture to my FB with the caption, “When you’re trying to clean and he thinks he’s helping”

It’s just too hot in South Georgia for any fly sheet during the heat of summer.

Curious if you only get flies during the day during the summer in GA?

I’m in Pensacola FL and my horses appreciate fly sheets spring, fall and summer evenings/mornings.

I agree that during the day in high summer a sheet is too hot. My horses will hardly leave the barn on hot afternoons. They like their fans!

I think daytime definitely has the highest concentration, for sure. At night it is the mosquitos and huge horse flies!

Biting sight flies are more attracted to dark brown.

Anyone find a fly sheet that doesn’t pull back? I’ve tried so many for my gelding, but every single one seems to slide back so much that it stretches around the chest and shoulder and wither. Every single brand I’ve tried seems to do this. I think something to do with the direction the fur grows in getting stuck in each mesh hole?

That fugly Amigo kind of looks cool to me. But my judgment is compromised… I like leopard print. :joy:

Yup! The horses are ok under fans with liberal applications of fly spray during the hottest days. But those horse flies are just awful in the evening. Skeeters too.

The Kensington I have doesn’t pull back on my bay. Lemme see if I have any pics that show how loose it is around his neck. I’m about two inches away from ordering one of their winter blankets in hopes that the cut is the same.

In the fly sheet pic he’d been wearing it for about 6 hrs already, if you zoom you can see how nice and loose it is under his neck.

I included a saddle fitting pic as well so you can get an idea of his conformation. Jury still out on this saddle btw

@beowulf I have found that the Rambo fly sheets do not pull back on my horses. Interestingly, though, the Amigo Revolution fly sheet pulled back badly and I really disliked that disc closure in the front.
