Food for a picky-eater puppy

Please look into other options then him just being picky. My puppy was picky and it took a year for me to figure out she was allergic to poultry and lamb. The vet and everyone else gave you all the suggestions above. Just offer it for 20 min she’ll get hungry enough to eat…except she never did. She would eat foods for a few days then it would make her tummy upset and she’d refuse to eat it. I tried mixing everything in I could think of and nothing stuck until I figured out the allergies. She did well for a few years then recently began getting picky again. Took her to the vet and she has low level pancreatitis/inflamed intestines and needs to be on a low fat diet. The dog who never wanted to eat a whole bowl of food now has been inhaling her food 2x a day every days for a few months. I feel so guilty that I didn’t figure it out sooner.

Thanks for all the advice

We switched him to Nutrience subzero puppy with a lot of success! We have been doing the method where we take away his food after 20 minutes or so. Being on a puppy food means that the recommended amount for his age/size is much more manageable. He is eating around 4.5 cups a day now. We are going to switch him off of this food to a different puppy food because he has gotten horribly gassy on this food and living with him is almost completely unbearable. But I think we’ve gotten him in the habit of eating meals so it shouldn’t be too difficult!

This is really good news, glad the situation has improved–yeah.

3-4 cups sounds perfect to me. I wouldn’t consider that a picky eater, personally. But agree to Pick the food you want to feed, put it down, give it 15 minutes and pick it up until next feeding time.
