Update:
We’ve gone round and round with food/meds but pain management seems to be key for him. I’d always given Buprenex as needed for his arthritis but he’s also getting the steroids now, which makes a HUGE difference in his appetite. The most he’d ever weighed was just over 8 pounds (should be around 10) and he’s crept up to almost 9.
I’ve found more canned foods that he will eat but he’s still holding on to some of his favorite raw over any canned.
So… we’re treating his pain and semi-ignoring the kidneys for now. Seems to be working so far because they are no worse.
