For those with tack rooms that are not climate controlled – question

We use a dehumidifier in the tackroom. Damp saddle pads, girths, galloping boots and wraps are not hung in our tackroom, but in the aisle to dry. A bit of white vinegar is fine to cut through mold. It is inadvisable to use strong cleaners or detergents on your tack as they break down the fibers of the leather. In other words, don’t put anything on your leather that you wouldn’t use on your own skin. We have saddle towels that keep dust off them, but if it’s super humid, I leave those off until the humidity changes. Newspaper rolls in boots retain the dampness. Better off with the plastic trees so that air can circulate within the boots.
