Now, Misty, is this evolving into fish porn? :lol::eek:
Absolutely not! Fish porn would be fish abuse! :eek:
(and it’s possible that ‘fish porn’ might be redundant)
I knew it was only a matter of time before the fish abuse turned to far more horrific abuse of fish puns…
My horse turns up his dainty little nose at the clean, scrubbed, daily-refilled water tank and prefers the scummy pond, which he immerses himself in and then drinks from. The scummy pond is filled with catfish… maybe he prefers water that lets him swim with the fishes!
What drives me crazy is when the goldfish are forced to wear annoying snaps.
For fish to be effective in cleaning water tanks, you need bottom-feeders, not goldfish. Catfish will actually keep a tank very clean, but you need one or two big ones in tthe tank, not the little ones you get at a pet store

Yeah, but lawyers require a lot more maintenance and care compared to goldfish.

Are there any biologists here who can tell us if living water established with enzymes that break down waste like a real stream, lake, pond or tank one it goes through it’s nitrification cycle if that water is better for the horses gut flora than very clean sterile bucket water?[/QUOTE]
Only an undergrad degree in Bio. But I’m not sure what would be good for them in “living water”. The gut bacteria are pretty specific not found in ponds. Clean water just lacks other bacteria and protozoa. I doubt it is sterile and I would guess most farms are not using chlorinated city water, but well water.
I had never heard of this fish in water troughs idea. But then to me a big water trough would be 50 gals. My old trainer told us not to let our horses drink from streams because of EPM. I let my horses drink anyway. But I can’t imagine putting goldfish in a trough. I am wondering how many horses you have in a pasture with a 350 gal tank. That seems really big to me. But around here 8 horses in a pasture would be alot.

:lol::lol:
They do. Really. :yes:
Years ago, I worked for a small animal vet who was a koi aficionado. She even painted her swimming pool black and put her koi in it, when she decided they needed more room. Talk about odd looking! There were no waterfalls, rocks, foliage, nada - just about a dozen multi-colored koi swimming around in a big black swimming pool. Charming. :dead:
The funniest thing I remember about her was when the local water garden shop (who made a fortune off her) called to say they’d gotten in a shipment of Israeli koi, and did she want them to save a few of the choicer, “champion” fish out for her? She was absolutely livid when I laughed my ass off. “Israeli koi? How can you tell? Do they wear little yarmulkes?” ROFLMAO :lol::lol:

No, they are circumcised. Which is crueler than making them wear snaps.
A couple grand for a fine Koi is nnoooooothin! Behold 80k Arowana!!!

I looked into breeding Arowanas because they sell for as much as nice Warmbloods, no Im not joking. You would NOT want to put them in water trough and most normal fish tanks can’t hold them. They eat meat, will jump to grab live pray and grow to enormous sizes. Also super cool colors. Breeder, DNA and microchip their fish to prove ID. Yes thats right microchipped fish.
yes thats a 58k fish at the bottom. prices ranging from 200ish dollars to tens of thousands.
