I would toss the whole bale, and keep a close eye on the horse if it had already eaten any of the hay. Around here Timothy hay is $45 for a 100# bale. That is still much cheaper than a vet bill, or a dead horse.
because he croaked?
Yes! He croaked after having a hopperation
^^^ see - these threads have great potential to turn into a joke-fest.
Foxtrot. I am sorry if I have offended you or anyone else. But the frog thing just got me all croaked up. And my mare has Ribot in her pedigree to boot.
I once found one half of a $100 bill in a bale of hay…neve found the other half
Clearly the frog thought the baler was safe.
It jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Any time I have questionable hay, I use it for chicken bedding. Nothing gets wasted around here.

Or maybe he wanted to Kermit suicide.
LOL. I am not sure I would even notice a dead frog in a bale of hay. I suspect there are a lot of little dead things in the flakes that we don’t always see when feeding hay - toads, mice, moles, etc.
I have found dead snakes more than anything else. I am not generally concerned about something that small.
If it were an entire turkey or possom, I’d probably throw out the entire bale.

If the “half” is larger than the missing “half” it is “legal tender”. Was told that by a bank when I was a desperate teen and took a $20 bill that had been rejected by a couple of stores.
Unfortunately I had the smaller “half”. Bummer. Didn’t ask what happens if there is a “tie”.
Dog ate a IRS refund check of considerable amount…took what he didn t eat and bits what he puked up bits from his pooh…and got a new one…really
So far best posts of 2017
One time i did find a skateboard distributed over three bales…
My husband forgot to look inside the baler before he hooked it up and turned it on. One of my chickens had decided to nest in there. She ended up in two different bales. A waste of a good chicken and two bales of hay…
Did you ever find the skateboarder???

Oh man this make me laugh. I was cleaning out/up my baler the other day and there was left over hay in the collection chamber. Some thing/critter, I assume our barn cat had made a nest in there. I thought the same thing as your comment. Pretty sure the cat would have been smart enough to jump out.
I hope so he is a really good cat.
oh man. This stuff is crazy.
maybe we need to go back to frog jokes.

Looks like this horse might have found your chicken;
Thanks for all the input… I disposed of the remaining hay i’d rather throw away $3 than $300
