Hey – I hope no one wants to murder me for resurrecting this thread, but…
I found a couple small mushy spots on my B-up floor over the weekend. It was due for a spring tune-up
and I’d like to replace/repair the interior latch on a couple doors, as well as new edging all around, but this was more than I was expecting. I’m looking at everything I can find to help my trailer guy’s job easier! He did a great job working on some undercarriage repair 2 years ago, but I am wondering if there is any newer info on parts/repair since this thread went dormant? I’m not against replacing the floor with boards, but if the Connecticut place mentioned could cost-effectively ship a laminated panel to MN, I’d consider it. I’m planning to send my trailer guy the comments on here that describe the various ways folks have done their floors so he can figure out which he can do. My Baron is 14 yrs old now, so I guess a little more TLC is in order!
I had mine replaced just last spring - the shop replaced the original floor (of a '95 Royal!) with pressure treated boards, welded in additional support, and beveled the boards back at the ramp by an inch or two, since the pressure treated wood is a tiny bit “taller” than the original floor was. I had them replace all the weatherstripping at the doors while they were at it.
I had initially contacted Mountain Top Trailers to inquire about getting an actual Brenderup floor shipped to me, but he said 1. shipping alone would run me about $1K from NH to PA and 2. a '95 model is “old style”, and he wasn’t sure he could even get the floor for it.
Since the shop I used charged me about $1600 total, I quickly decided that was my best bet. So my '95 is again just as good as new…and I bought a moose of a horse who is too big for it. It is about to be listed for sale, and I am going to cry when I sell it - I love hauling that little trailer!
