Well done, apha-gunner! Thank you for your concern and speaking up for a voiceless animal!
This is very good news. Hoping he gets the veterinary care that sounds desperately needed.
Thank you!
In many lower cost boarding situations, thereâs no ice, this owner has been clear they will not authorize the BM to call the vet and other boarders canât tell the BM to do it anyway. I know, that sucks, but itâs not your horse and this owner is aware and does not want other boarders handling it. Itâs part of being in a boarding barnâŠitâs a MYOB. Some owners donât have the money for proper diagnostics and treatments so it wonât happen.
I hate it, Got sick of looking at other peoples unhealthy horses with minimal vet and farrier care. Why I now only board in barns that require full care, custody and control language in the contract including vet authorization if owner is absent and deemed in tne best interests of the horse. . But those tend to cost more and often require owner to have a credit card on file with their vet to insure the barn doesnât get stuck with a big bill if the owner bugs out, Some owners just canât afford that level of service.
Sometimes picking a boarding barn goes beyond care of your horse to care standards of the overall population. Recently foundered horse gimping around with owner aware but no apparent vet involvement or ongoing treatment would not do much to attract my business.
I completely agree. Sheâs the only boarder Iâve seen that doesnât want vet care provided in her absence. The other horses whoâs owners canât get out have the BMs vet do their shots and check ups. The BM also schedules lots of farrier appointments for the horses that donât have their owners out often. But this one particular border seems quite difficult
Sorry, but if I see a horse in distress I will do something. the BO must have the ownerâs phone number and the least he/she could do is reach out to them. It may be the owner is unaware or not educated enough to know the results of founder. No ice? Iâd ride to the nearest store or at least drag out the hose.and deal with the owner laterâŠ
I contacted the BM
