Freakin' Daisies! What kills 'em?

Since I still haven’t won the war on the freaking daisies, this remains a timely topic, for sure! What works? Crossbow or Roundup. Mowing daisies simply keeps them from seeding, but does not kill the plant, so everything remains status quo. 2,4D does not kill them. The two sprays mentioned will, but it takes spraying each individual plant. I am fighting a losing battle with my neighbors, who let theirs go uncontrolled. Compared to the 50 acres of tansy to my west, the daisies south and east of me are a minor annoyance. Good luck BHK…they are a foul, awful plant.

:weary:

Right now one corner of the pasture seems to be their favorite spot… but a pretty large area to spray individual plants… sigh… I do mow at least twice a year but last year had to mow 3 times to keep them down… maybe its time to invest in a backpack sprayer.

I own one and use it regularly on blackberries, daisies, buttercup, and tansy in my fields (and yard!). We have a tow behind sprayer for our small tractor, too. And a hand-held sprayer…clearly, we spray our weeds!

No solution but they are most likely Ox-Eye Daisies (not Shasta) Leucanthemum vulgare. They are considered a noxious weed.

It appears that you can till them out fairly easily but that’s not a great solution for pastures. Here is some info; maybe would be helpful. https://wric.ucdavis.edu/information/natural%20areas/wr_L/Leucanthemum.pdf

Maybe 24D? My animals( horses, goats, cows) eat every weed that might be in the hay. Our fields are fairly clean but we have some weeds here and there along with pretty flowering weeds. They eat them all.

I kind of like the pretty flowers among all that grass?

Nothing eats daisies. Nothing. They suck! They are pretty, awful grass-crowding-out-nasties. Ugh.

Unfortunately mine won’t eat them…
