I’m in south eastern Wyoming, so depending on what part of Colorado you’re in, we have similar weather. I was lucky (unlucky for my family) that I was deployed last year so I missed a record setting winter.
That’s good to know, how much water they put out. My hydrants are frost free so I’ve only had problems when human error is involved. But I just don’t know that a Freeze Miser at the end of 100’ of hose would safely keep the hydrant from freezing. Nor do I think the trickle of water would keep a trough open. I can see where it would be useful for RV/camper lines or in your case, keeping frost free hydrants open. But I also work 10 hour days with a bit of a commute; emptying buckets 3 times a day just isn’t happening. So water would need to be diverted elsewhere.
