Future of HITS Balmoral?

Gov. Pritzker owns a lot of equestrian properties, the latest in Wellington. HITS owner Tom Struzzieri is into running triathlons now. I’m sure there was some help for him to unload Balmoral.

You’d have to ask the seller?

As of right now those with show contracts have no idea what will happen to their contracts (honored? Refunded?) although they did know (after the contracts were finalized) that the facility had been listed for sale. They found out about the sale on social media.

At least one of those shows has 500 plus horses so that’s a lot of scrambling around to find a suitable facility that has the right open dates.

The current sale is pending the outcome of the appeals to the state regarding allowances for casino and racing.

If the sale is still pending, then it sounds like the buyer has some conditions. If I were a buyer, I’d want to know what contractual obligations came with the property and see those agreements. So perhaps “Sold” means “Under Contract”?

I know 2 organizers who have paid contracts for future dates, one with several shows in 2020 and one with a show in 2021. They found out via the internet, and are trying to find out about their future there. Both organizers were very happy with the facility.

Yup. We’re all waiting, and it’s absolutely BULL that those with contracts had to find out via the internet. MASSIVE fail on the part of HITS. Even if it’s as simple as, “We received an offer on the facility, it’s pending while we wait for _____ to come through, we’ll keep you posted.”

This! Could not agree more. Who knows what tricks they’ll pull between now and 2021 and thereby leave poor AHA in the lurch. Just bad business all around.
