Gardening: the 2013 season

Thanks for reminding to set up my snow peas for pre-sprouting this weekend. I always forget!! I don’t grow regular English shelling peas, but do love sugar snaps & snows (cook LOTS of stirfries).

I started a bit of water-jug “wintersowing” a couple of weeks ago, & was thrilled yesterday to find “Zen Hybrid” (an Asian green) germinating already!

And today another wintersown jug is sprouting - “Summer Purple” Sprouting Broccoli. Is supposed to be a heat-resistant “Broccolini” type (no large main head, lots of continuous little side sprouts, more tender & edible stalks & leaves than regular broccoli).

I think I am going to do a salad garden this year. I have a pallet bed going. Last year I went crazy on tomatoes, and some of my other things didn’t flourish. So this year, several types of greens, some tomatoes, some cukes, basil, peppers and maybe a couple of raised tire beds with squash and watermelons.
Nothing beats fresh veggies from your garden.

Checked the wintersown jugs this morning, & woo hoo!! “Bachelor’s Buttons” mix is sprouting!!

THIS IS A SEVEN YEAR OLD THREAD

That’s bananas.

I am not going to click on strange links to see if it is indeed bananas they are selling.
