Gas

I guess there is no easy fix. Gas X on a daily basis would get too expensive. I will give the baking soda a try. He doesn’t get grain just a vitamin/mineral mix, salt and flax, nor does he get apples or carrots. I feed peanuts with their shells as treats but I doubt they would cause gas.

Today I just lunged and rode him through it, convincing him that he could move and fart at the same time. I think I have allowed him to develop a bad habit by letting him stop all the time.

You might consider looking into inflammation in the SI area. Long story short, inflammation in that area innervated or impinged on the nerves to the colon causing discomfort in moving forward and especially tilting the pelvis under for collection unless the colon is emptied. Spent years trying to figure out why my guy was wanting to put breaks on to poop, moving much better after pooping etc., till we injected the SI with sarapin. Not expensive so may be worth a try. Those acupressure points help too!

Quite possible. Just like letting them stop to poop…they can ride through it if asked consistently.

Forgot to add, perhaps Forco or some other digestive aid would help as well.
