Gastrogard/Ulcergard research

Ramey is such a quandary, because often he puts out really good information, which makes people really trust him, but then sprinkles in articles like this where he clearly missed the most important aspect of the original study - that it was NOT using GG or UG. Just because something is omeprazole, just because it’s administered at 1mg/kg or 4mg/kg, doesn’t mean that how it’s formulated is absorbed all the same by the horse in general. He clearly didn’t read the actual study, or didn’t understand it well enough.

At least he got the point that omeprazole doesn’t work (well) on glandular ulcers. His article is 2014, and I’m not sure when the research was done proving that omeprazole works for squamous but not glandular, so maybe it was after 2014, or he simply hadn’t read it if it was before. But at least he pointed that out
