Gem Twist clone

The Chapots have a handful of Gemini babies in NJ, I’ve seen a few photos of them. I asked my friend who knows them well what they were like and she said they were uniformly nice sport horses but all had quite different personalities.

Not surprised.

Can you ask if they are all generally the same temperament?

Temperament and personality are different, and I’d expect their temperament to be pretty similar, even as personalities vary since that’s at least partially a factor of the environment.

There is more to a good horse than it’s body:

TB show jumper easily jumping 1.50 m.

I agree - across families I’ve seen very similar temperaments but polar-opposite personalities. IMHO personalities is more environment-induced, while temperament is something I think they are born with, but can be slightly molded by experience.

We have 2 Say Florida Sandy sons and their personalities could not be more different. One is a PUNK to extremes - extrovert in-yo-bizness-24/7 type, HUGE PRESENCE, very self-confident real sassy, always has to have the last word in everything, and sometimes can be a real pill on the ground. He was also gelded when he was 9, so I think that has something to do with it. I think he must have had good people up until we got him.

His brother is the total opposite, not at all a big presence, total weenie, very insecure, doesn’t like people and very standoffish about everything. I think he didn’t have the same upbringing and maybe at some point, felt he was treated a little unfairly at the track - maybe he deserved it, who knows.

But their temperaments, IMHO, are near identical - both are very sane, honest, good riding horses – and both could take a week or a month off (or in Brother’s case, 6 m/o) and be the same horse day in and out.

Wow, Elles, thanks for sharing that-- he’s lovely. The clone thing still freaks me out a little but he’s pretty much exactly what I would want to breed to for an event horse otherwise!

Bizarre that the FEI Horse Performance page shows Fountain of Love as foaled 1984?!

Wonder how that mixup happened. Obviously the 2002 mare.

Not really sure how she relates to Gem Twist; but certainly a nice example of a modern TB that can jump around a course.
Any video?

Thanks,
