George Morris on the SS list

I don’t think there’s any separation there. I think pedophiles get into whatever sport or hobby they’re in either because of the pool of victims, or because they’re into the sport, but they then choose to work with the young people because that’s what they’re interested in, attracted to, and gives them access.

Outdoorsy type? Become a scout leader, camp counselor etc.
Into academics? Become a teacher.
Into horses? Trainer for young riders.
Doctor or physical therapist? Find a team of teens to work with.

Nasser was into that ego rush of being a highly regarded professional, I don’t think the sport mattered. He could have gone to a soccer team, volleyball team etc. Gymnastics was just more “hands on” than other sports. For others, I think they just stay in the sport they know and gravitate to working with those age groups they’re attracted to, but they’re ALL pedophiles.

Un.f-ing.believable these people. I can’t believe chroni is giving them airtime. Such a joke. The whole “I’m not saying who, but I know it’s happened” bullshit saying people have been BANNED with no investigation is straight up nauseating. Make-up-your-own-facts is the new standard in journalism 😢

I keep saying the people who are all about due process and facing your accuser better be careful what they wish for. They are wishing for criminal proceedings where people found guilty go to jail.

so… we are not going to name members who basically want the names and or details of victims? or in other words, we aren’t going to be transparent but want transparency in SS?

If "This transcript has been edited for clarity and length" then I’d hate to see the original. Yowza.

And…what is “the crux of the point?”…

This, for me is at the same time necessary to protect children, and kind of reminiscent of McCarthyism, as well. I am glad I am not showing horses, at this point, nor am I a member of USEF.

I am horrified that COTH ran that piece.

My god, the woman sounds like a monster herself.
A dusting of faux concern for victims of abuse, and 50 cubic yards of crap about the poor accused and his/her “rights”.

I’m not.
It pulls the mask aside a bit and shows these snakes for the lowlife they are.

I feel like there was a way to run this that would do that, but this did not.

This perception that men can’t control themselves and it’s up to the females to prevent wrongdoing begins in childhood. We literally teach boys that we don’t expect them to be able to restrain themselves. How many school dress codes forbid girls wearing tank tops with an explanation from the school that their bare shoulders or (God forbid) cleavage are “distracting” for the boys? It’s absurd, but all too real.

She is an USEF R judge.

Funny that she believes in her cause so much that she contributed a whopping sum of $50.

So let me get one thing straight (and I apologize if this has been asked already):

Hypothetical situation:
Lets say that today Joe Blow, an average trainer and USEF member, pleads guilty to possession of child pornography in a court of law. Does SafeSport give him a pass, too?

probably not, considering that there was a safe sport investigation, suspension, hearing, and arbitration related to JS’s case, and that involved more than a decade of time and behaviour to examine.

So those aren’t really synonymous cases, but I see what you tried to do there.

To me it should be pretty cut and dry though - SafeSport is either okay with a history of possession of child pornography or they aren’t. The crime is the same no matter who (or why they) committed it, right? That only seems fair.

But you aren’t an arbitrator, and they disagreed with you.

I appreciate that you don’t agree. If you would like to be involved in the decision process, you can always apply for the job.
