George Morris on the SS list

I don’t know he’s gay. His sexual orientation has nothing to do with his equestrian accomplishments. I have followed him throughout the years and am saddened to see these allegations. I don’t want to assume he is guilty nor do I want to assume the victim is lying. I only hope that there is evidence that can be provided to prove these facts and if it is true, then I hope the victim can find closure.

I am always concerned about these types of situations when they involve public figures. The victim may truly be an innocent who was afraid, embarrassed, shocked, or confused. They may have decided with the way things are now that by coming forward - they can loan others the strength to do so as well.

However, sometimes in situations like this, the victim isn’t exactly innocent because being quiet or participating in certain acts may have helped them advance in their career path.

Only the victim, the accused, and the man upstairs knows the truth in the situation.

Eitherway, it saddens me.

My guess is Phelps Sports / Mason Phelps. George certainly doesn’t email and that statement was most definitely done by a PR firm.

It can’t be USEF email list because I am a current member and didn’t get it.

It will be interesting to see how USEF reacts, considering they removed JW’s name from awards and honors.

The George Morris Horsemastership Training Session “designed to identify and develop the next generation of top U.S. Equestrian Team talent through instruction from experts in a variety of aspects of horsemastership.” (per USEF), has already been postponed to 2020, as they “allow for a revitalization and refresh of the program.”

GM will not take this lightly; the fight has only just begun.

Could it be a USET donor list ?

Wherever the list came from, it was very inappropriate to give it to someone accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

Maybe it came from breed memberships? I am up to date in 4-H, VHSA, AQHA, FQHA, ABRA… I get the Quarter Horse Journal. I used to get Horse and Rider… I’m trying to think whatever horse things they could have gotten my e-mail from. Maybe something like Smartpak or Valleyvet - would they sell e-mail lists to people? I did get the e-mail.

Lol. They didn’t “give him an email list”. He hired a PR firm and that is what PR firms do. Try and improve a client’s image or get in front of a crisis by controlling the narrative. So of course the PR firm would have their own previously compiled email list of equine persons to whom said PR firm would email that sort of prepared statement.

You know what… Horse Expos. I bet that’s where they come from.

I have to stop reading that Facebook thread. My head is going to explode.

And seriously, crazies, you can still give George Morris all your monies.

That makes perfect sense. My email would kick it to spam though and I’m sure many other people’s would as well, so it won’t be as effective as they hope.

What a weird thing to do. Doesn’t he realize it makes him look desperate?

Unless the PR firm has already been involved with equestrian clients, they would not have access to any email list. They might buy an email list from a publication or organization, but they couldn’t compile one on the spur of the moment. Whoever sent the email with his statement knew this was coming; he would have had to have hired the PR firm before this hit the fan.

I find it interesting that lifetime suspensions are being handed down for reasons that are not always completely clear to the general public or even people involved in the horse world (criminal convictions aside), yet there are people currently working in the industry who were involved in, and pled guilty to, insurance fraud schemes that killed horses.

God Bless you my friend GHM…

Phelps Media is involved with equestrian clients so there would be no need to buy or compile a list as they already have it. Which might explain why I didn’t get it as I opted out of their emails. It probably didn’t come from iJump since I do get those.

Phelps has most everyone’s email. They do PR for all the big horse shows. I bet that’s where they got the email list (assuming Phelps is the one who sent out the email).

The PR firm is Phelps Media and they would most certainly have this list

Quoted for posterity and reported. No matter how angry/upset you are, I don’t know WTF makes you think this is appropriate.
