GM would be banned from any USEF sanctioned event a horse show, a clinic, judging…

USEF has no jurisdiction over non sanctioned clinics or shows, etc.

I don’t know he’s gay. His sexual orientation has nothing to do with his equestrian accomplishments. I have followed him throughout the years and am saddened to see these allegations. I don’t want to assume he is guilty nor do I want to assume the victim is lying. I only hope that there is evidence that can be provided to prove these facts and if it is true, then I hope the victim can find closure.

I am always concerned about these types of situations when they involve public figures. The victim may truly be an innocent who was afraid, embarrassed, shocked, or confused. They may have decided with the way things are now that by coming forward - they can loan others the strength to do so as well.

However, sometimes in situations like this, the victim isn’t exactly innocent because being quiet or participating in certain acts may have helped them advance in their career path.

Only the victim, the accused, and the man upstairs knows the truth in the situation.

Um no it’s called being around a long time and waiting for the shoe to drop. Safe Sport doesn’t give lifetime bans all Willy Nilly like.

There are multiple people saying she, which really helps to demonstrate how people who don’t know someone at all, like really basic public knowledge, feel free to voice their insanely wrong and ignorant opinions. Like, you don’t know George Morris is gay, I’m confused how you even know who he is then.

GM (or his media persons) put out a statement saying XYZ from 50 years ago… SafeSport puts him on the permanently ineligible list but no statement. Everyone jumps to believe the media statement that this is all about something that may have happened 50 years ago - why do you believe there are no other allegations from more recently? I seem to remember that when RG was put on the list everyone came running to his defense with statements that it was a 17 year old girl when he was 21 and he shouldn’t have been banned - and then the survivors spoke out and the facts of the case were very different. 13 and 14 year old girls were abused - that’s a huge difference from a 17 year old.

Media folks are tasked with containing inflammatory topics - they aren’t always the most reliable about all the facts. In this case, I don’t know exactly who brought up what allegations and how recent they are - because I’m not on the SafeSport committee that rules on these issues. From previous cases, the committee seems to be doing something right and getting the right people on the list. Right now I’m going to sit back and wait for the facts to come out rather than condemning either SS or GM.
