German ex-toprider caught (again) on hidden camera (*warning* horse abuse)
I’d love to know what is accomplished by posting this type of video. Is it just for people with a morbid fascination with others beating horses, or just rubber necker syndrome? Either way it’s pretty distasteful.
( There is absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION for saying it prevents abuse in any way)
I think it’s important so the word gets out, God forbid in two years some newbie rides with her or she decides to come here:( yikes

Can anyone comment on her punishment (if any) for this latest incident or what the laws in Denmark allow? Was this horse removed from her abuse and is she still involved at the same stable/farm? What can be done?

Wels, her last name is Wels. There is some fidgeting about on BB’s about posting her name. Screw that. This wench does not deserve any more protection than her horse got.
You are correct. My feeling on using her surname is this…

I can understand NOT using it when she was “charged” in Germany last year, but by virtue of being “found guilty” then there is no harm in using her surname. Sadly she will probably end up making the rounds of every country in the EU. But the only saving grace is that people are obviously aware of her, or of practices that are cruel and are filming, calling the authorities, and taking action.

Equbrit I totally disagree
I say it’s a good thing to post as this was a HIGH PROFILE rider. So many idolize their trainers and it’s important people know they cannot just assume if someone has a name/record they are worth emulating.
Knowing this happens keeps peoples eyes open.

I don’t have to watch the video to know what this is:

this is a rider who kept getting closer to the abyss and finally fell in.

Thank you, Theo, for reminding us that each and every time we lose our temper, lose sight of the Golden Mean, take our eyes and senses out of middle distance…we come a step closer to the same abyss.

Dr. Klimke said, ’ 99% of the horses can get 99% of the riders in the world (including me) off their backs any time they want. The fact that they choose not to do so is why we ride them.’

Christine Wels was supposed to be on fulll probation for two years after the last sentence/jail time. I guess she just felt she needed to give in to her dark urges .

People like this, who prey on the defenseless-- the animals, the children, anyone who is made powerless – these people are all serial killers in the making.

I can only hope she gets justice this time around.

Poor baby :frowning: :frowning:

Disgusting.

Reminds me of provenspots on Youtube.

I’d love to tie her head and beat the crap out of her with the metal end of the lunge whip while she is running around on a lunge line because she won’t bend! If I had been that horse-I would have kicked the crap out of her! I hope that horse has a happier life now-kudos to the girl groom who took the stand! Wish more people were like her!

It is both disheartening and sickening to know that someone who can beat an animal like this for clearly their own amusement is allowed to own or come within any distance of any animal. Then again, we can not keep humans away from the humans they beat just because they reproduced them. It is an extremely sad situation. I truly hope that the person watching the beating is also severely penalized for their lack of action as well. No animal deserves that type of senseless inhumane treatment. I hope that in Denmark or Germany (wherever her location may be) they have more stringent laws and serious jail time for such a repeat offender.

yep, sure looks like Christine W. This is just disgusting! Didn’t she get 2 years of “no contact with horses”???

I’d say if it keeps one person from letting a horse within a half mile of this sorry excuse for a human being, it has accomplished enough.

Alternatively, if it incites a mob to tar and feather the perp, that’s good, too.

People continue to take horses to her for training?

Ok so I googled that and it came up Christine [edit]:confused:
Search Christine Wels dressage trainer in Google.

I think this is absolutely disgusting and horrific. I hope she has a miserable life.

[edit]

I think that eventually these people all get what they deserve, horses eventually kill people like that. Handling like that makes horses one of two things. Or both. Dangerous. Erratic. When either or both horses are very dangerous. They kill people.

Just not soon enough.

You know, this speaks to so much of horse nature, and mankind’s whole history with the horse…their whole evolution, and ours. We’re the predator, they’re the prey. And they really do understand that they’re stronger than us. They’re not stupid. They’re just not wired like another predator. You could not whip a cat or dog like that, if they were that giant size (or even if they weren’t.) The horse is resisting, he’s just not directing toward his tormentor. There is a famous story about Friedrich Nietzsche, that the point when he snapped (mentally) and had to be taken off to an asylum was when he witnessed a cart horse being beaten to death in the street. I think the actual truth is, it didn’t all happen right then, but over a period of days he became more and more obsessed with the idea that the horse, by refusing to defend itself with its superior strength, had the moral high ground over all humanity (in that move the horse prefigured Gandhi’s own non-violent revolution!), which humanity (perforce including Nietzsche’s own) then became repugnant to him, and presto, nervous breakdown. My point is, if this incident bugs the sh!t out of you, you’re in really good company.
What an interesting post. Perhaps this realization (“the idea that the horse, by refusing to defend itself with its superior strength, had the moral high ground over all humanity”) is what drives people who are involved in horse rescue.

Thanks for the clarification. Someone above me posted [a name] and I wanted facts. They are obviously (at least from what I can see on the internet) 2 different people. Thanks again!

I guess that is one reason we should no speculate or name names, unless we got the means to proof it.

I fail to understand why her name should be a secret.

Is she riding a sponsored horse “Werthers”?
