Getting Magic Cushion off Hair

My mare landed hard on a frozen divot in the paddock, and in an attempt to stave off a potential abscess, I packed her foot with Magic Cushion for a few days.

The good news? No abscess! The bad news? The Magic Cushion escaped the vet wrap and got stuck on her heels, pastern and elbow (from lying down) and I cannot get it off!

Any tips or tricks?

Rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer will take it off.

Thanks! I’ll try that, since shampoo did absolutely nothing.

Rubbing alcohol was my secret when I worked shows. Sticky stubborn stuff also before using try and put vet around hoof then putting magic cushion in and wrapping the way you want it.

I would slather the back of the pastern with vaseline too, which helped keep the MC from sticking.

Hoof oil or baby oi. Let it sit for a few hours and then shampoo. It will come right off. I always paint the horses elbows with hoof oil when I use magic cushion.

baby oil did the trick for me.

Thanks, all. Rubbing alcohol got the job done!

Perfect timing! I have a grey horse with a wad of Magic Cushion on his elbow right now
