You’re absolutely right. If I were the cynical type, I’d say this is a way to inflate the ads stats so the advertiser thinks they’re getting a good click-through rate

It can, but it won’t! I have just settled for grumbling every time I have to scroll past the full screen ads.
I appreciate that COTH needs ads for revenue. However, this is not likely to make me click on the ad, except accidentally. In fact, not only do I not remember who has taken up my entire screen, I’m also less likely to purchase from them as I’m super annoyed by the ad. It has almost made me give up on reading COTH entirely (well that and the super annoying scroll format…I miss paging through things but I’m a bit of a luddite and really miss being able to scroll smoothly and then click to skip pages as I try to catch up with a long thread).
I get it, they’ve probably paid some huge amount for “full page” but this format man, this is just not cool.

It may be deliberate or a loading delay but if I’m on mobile (iPhone 13s, Safari) and I click the notifications button, the ad loads in and takes me to a new page. It’s happened enough times now that I wait a minute before moving or scrolling, otherwise it thinks I’m trying to click the ad. The ad is formatted poorly for mobile users and takes up more than the entire page for me. It’s a lot of scrolling!

I stopped counting the bouncing arrow at 10 bounces. The ad just sticks unless you scroll.
Hey Mod, randomly just now the big ad we have to scroll past has changed other formatting.
This is what I see when I scroll down past the ad now. (on a PC, using Chrome)
Historically I have not seen the menu for COTH (not the forum) like this when I am scrolling past the ad on the forum.
It is repeatable, it has happened over and over since the first time like 10 minutes ago.
bottom half of that screen with more scrolling so you get most of it (some missing in the middle)
Isn’t it on point that the giant ad on a horse BB is for owning your own private jet?

This seems to be all fixed today.
Oh no it’s not. Tablet user here and getting to my desired pages is a minefield. Any detected motion opens the ad page unless I take great care. And I’ve opened and shut COTH and the ads over and over to get to where I want to be.
I was not saying the ads are gone.
I was saying the weird menu that should not be there that I showed a screen shot of, in my post above, was fixed.
