Gift Ideas for 15 Year Old Girl - Hunter Rider

Full disclosure - this is my page.

I know you said she has plenty of riding clothes, but when I was 15 (working my butt off at a barn day and night just to ride, because my parents didn’t have a ton of money) I would have loved to get a NICE piece of show clothes. The type of clothes the other girls had but I couldn’t afford. Le Fash wasn’t around when I was 15, but that would be something now that I would have lusted over and dreamed of. Of course, they are over what you are wanting to spend unless you look on their sale rack. However, there are other higher end brand things out there.

Also, I wouldn’t hesitate to add some My Barn Child or Hunt Club charms to a gift. I’m not a charm person, personally, but most 15 year olds I know love them. The Shop Hunt Club belts are great. Their sweaters are fun.

I second taking a look at Rebecca Ray and/or Tucker Tweed.

ETA: At 15, I also would have LOVED one of those memory bracelets. They were always circled on my Christmas list (still are to this day), and I have yet to get one.

couple of hot items on the A circuit at least that would fall into your budget or a bit more
JOTT vest - you can get it monogrammed with her name, $195 for the vest
Charles Ancona saddle pad - $50
Shop Hunt Club Derby belts are super cute - $28
Agree that every kid can use show clothes talent yarn shirt, breeches etc.

What is a JOTT vest?

Are the monogrammed necklaces still in fashion?

Anything of great quality and personalized with a monogram will do it.

Those heirloom-like things I was given as a poor barn rat kid by the people I rode for were really cherished. I felt like they validated my efforts at the barn when my own family was unsupportive (they were trying to be practical).

I love the idea of a high-end belt with a name plate on it. Get great quality and a traditional look; look at Quillen’s website.

The custom crop or spurs would also fit the bill.

I 2nd the Jotts vest or jacket (slightly over your budget). These have become a huge hit with hunter riders. www.jottusa.com

Another idea is to give her a gift card to Dover or some other store that will allow her to use that money towards a larger purchase that she normally wouldn’t be able to afford. Maybe it would allow her to purchase a new pair of boots, show clothes, etc.

Just a thought that depending on the money situation, something that’s a little more practical and a little more impersonal might be the most appreciated. When I was a broke working student it was nice to get a personalized gift, but it was even better to get enough cash to pay for gas for a few months without stressing about where that money would come from. Even if she has enough horse stuff, she might have something in mind that she’s scraping up the money to get.

Another thought - if she has a horse she rides regularly, could you pay for a small clinic or an entry fee for a show? I always appreciated getting the chance to do “extracurriculars” that were otherwise difficult to pay for, even if it was just a schooling show.

^I agree with the above posters about the gift card. I know you want to give a personalized gift but when I was that age, having enough money to buy ‘essentials’ would have been the greatest gift imaginable. If I were her, I think what I would really want would be a gift card to SmartPak (perhaps to put towards some new, nice show boots or something like that) or even just a very practical Visa gift card.

I am sure she will appreciate whatever you get her, of course and it is lovely that you are thinking of her!

Perhaps if you want to personalize the presentation of a gift card more, include it in a fancy card (or even in the pages of a book) with a hand-written note.

What about a Rebecca Ray suede belt?

OP, a nice compromise would be a gift card and a smaller, personalized gift like one of the leather bracelets suggested.

I ADORE my JOTT. Best purchase I ever made (and I have made A LOT)

I broke down and bought the JOTT vest and they are on sale at Chagrin Saddlery in Ohio in case anyone else is looking to find one. Their sizes and colors are limited. Hope she likes it!
