I would have told the miserable old queen to go F&*K himself…really! I just freaking LOVE the fact that he is using a crest release on the cover on his book. Add that to the fact that his back is roached and there you have it. He has failed to come to the understanding that things evolve and the world does change, regardless of whether you want it to or not.

Oh no, she didn’t!
tongue in cheek…
So barnworkbeatshousework, by what you said GM words were a turning point in your equestrian career? Those harsh words made you push forward and make you want to prove him wrong? The words that made you want to learn so much that you are riding better than ever? I guess then GM’s clinic did you well…
yes, my closing “you SOB” comment was intended tongue in cheek (alas, email and posts don’t convey tone of voice…). GM’s comment beat me up as long as I ALLOWED it to beat me up. I just wish I had woken up, smelled the coffee sooner, and had that “screw this, I’m riding” epiphany much, MUCH sooner.
So, yes, not a delicate technique, but when it works, it works!
Oh my. We have GOT to talk offline. Because you are clearly around the same age as me and it is likely we were at Quantico around the same time. Have we already had this conversation and you just changed your screen name? Because I know someone else who also rode at Quantico - there aren’t many of us here.
Anyway, congrats because you had more than I got before I went to college! We did some up/down lessons in Spain. I can assure you, I learned NOTHING. Then, back in the states, good ol’ Major Meek (in the background here) taught me my fourth and fifth grade year during summers. Same thing - once a week when my mom drove the 45 mins from Nokesville to Quantico for groceries.
Then, in my 6th grade year, I got my horse and that was the end of lessons, which I didn’t think was a problem at all! Until I got to college. I did read a lot of books and Practical Horseman but I still had a lot of catching up to do.
And by the way, Major Meek was not exactly a pussy cat either. I can remember getting yelled at quite a lot by him. Which again, only motivated me. I was determined to be the best and like to think I became teacher’s pet. I still have a little trophy he gave me for being much improved after trying my ass off.
PM me…
Crack, crack, crackle…crack, crack, crackle (that would be that needle that is dragging across the broken record). I’ll say it again, he’s the first to diss himself in pix of himself. Scroll back…we’ve all said it ad nauseum.
He doesn’t want to be the best. He wants you to be your best.
Crack, crack, crackle…crack, crack, crackle
You know what? I don’t mind that George is a bully. But I love Simon Cowell. Both of them are creative bullies. I find them amusing and creative. At least they don’t resort to sordid swears and cliches.
Yeah, but I’d rather play footsie with Simon.

At least GM’s teeth are real … don’t tell me Simon’s are real. I know Simon is involved in a lot of charities in the UK. I wonder if he ever shows up at Ascot, Burghley, or Badminton? Do they have any events that are associated with charities?

That would be dust in the grooves. Or just simplify it and add a couple of “pops” for the pressing defects.
Calling someone a dumbell is being a bully ? How about “knucklehead” ?
As in “Hey knucklehead, you went off course.” Is that being a bully ?
My goodness, have we all become poodles or what ???
Do you honestly think the rider schelpped “herself and her horse down to Wellington” ? You forgot the grooms, braiders, trainers and assistants.
Sorry no sympathy here.

Me too. He was the only judge on Am Idol that knew what was going on,
and said it. Succinctly, and often with humor.
Randy knew it most of the time, but would only say “ya know dawg, it just wazznt happin for me, ya know ?”
But among all the judges…the contestants RESPECTED Simon the most.

And after tonights episode - I missed him!
So GM is the Simon of horse trainers! That explains everything. I’m sure Simon called some of the contestants worse than a dumbbell…
I’m with you. Like that Tabitha gal that takes over / makes over the salons. Augh! Would I LOVE to have someone like that in the horse world who went barn to barn and got those shams that call themselves businesses whipped into shape!
Or ask him to put on a training bra…
Admit it, my boy’s got some man boobs.
