Johnson up… so very expressive… Showed him to a co-worker and he said “that horse moves like he’s angry and about to kill you”.
Hans putting in a respectable test so far.

Sheesh, can we freaking get back the competition and stop fruitbatting around about old crap?
Sure That is easier than admitting you have not watched the rides you critique.

That is funny!

Because, at the time I wrote it all we had was the report from the commentator. Not sure why this was pulled out when it’s not in context of the conversation we had out here…oh, wait, its Cat Tap. Ah, that explains it.
Can we get back to the competition now?
I was late coming to this party and after page 4 didn’t want to read all 24 pages.
BTW for the Canadians, my friend phoned the CBC complaining that there was no live streaming even though a camera was there. Voila, they started the broadcast. They also have a complete replay of yesterday. I think they start at 3 this afternoon.
cbc streamed all phases of the eventing including dressage and only skipped day 1 of the GP- now streaming the gps
very happy!
The Dutch are complete… and dare I say, we might have a chance for Bronze? If Laura and Steffen are near the 77-78 range again, and the next score is 72-73 or higher (and Kasey did have a 75% yesterday!) I’d say we got a medal!

Ali is the first American in the ring at 1:02 Eastern.
THANK YOU!
The cat is now at his new home, so he is much better pleased. I may be able to see Ali!
I guess the answer is no then-
velvet has not watched any rides despite her strong opinions about them .
Is Don Aurelio the horse who comes over from Sweden to Wellington in the winter and wins everything?
oh how little I know… I liked Cassidy’s test so much more than Don Aurelio’s… to be a judge is not in the stars for me! Lovely test though.

Yes I think so. Tinne is often showing in Wellington.
it is great to see the German /Dutch stronghold shaken up over the last few years
Go Brits and USa!!

I’m only a little stitious

I’m having trouble judging the Piaffe. Johnson looked like he was on his forehand, his forelegs touched touchdown before his hind. Yet he scored well. His hind legs were under but to me his weight looked to not be back. Am I mistaken?

Curious too! I definitely thought there was very little activity with him and was surprised by the score.
On that note in piaffe, here’s where I’m getting mislead: do you get more penalties for loss of activity in the hind or for swinging?
I am seeing quite a few that barely seem active behind (as in barely clear their hind feet off the ground) score 7-8 when big active ones with swinging get 4-5.
I agree - I don’t completely understand the scoring on the piaffe.
The horse that is lowers the croup to sit and shift weight back, but is less active than desired, should score higher than the swinger because his mechanic is correct. The swinger doesn’t have the correct mechanic.
What I don’t get is the scoring on the horses that actually get lighter behind and heavier in front during the piaffe. Some of these lose the laterals pairs as a result. IMHO, this is a problem with the mechanics as well, and should score similar to the swinger.
It’s not one or another. It’s the overall impression of what is correct. Piaffe should be active 11-13 steps (I’ve seen a lot not doing this) lowered in the quarters, straight, not side to side, and not pedastaling (hind legs too far under.)
I’ve been having streaming problems, so don’t remember specific horses right now.
Swinging is a major fault. And depending on where you sit, you can also see how little those horses are often sitting–thus losing more points because they don’t get the benefit of the exercise.
