Groom went Mad in Wellington with Machete

This is such a horrible story, and if her friend/tenant hadn’t been there, she could be dead.

I’m not sure how I’d sleep if I were trying to evict a guy like that, and during the process he could roam the property at night with access to my animals.

And many long-term alcoholics become accustomed to functioning while under some degree of impairment. Practice doesn’t make perfect, but sometimes it’s enough to fool a lot of people.

Even in my own case my active drinking lasted a little more than six months. But I got good enough at it that my husband would often not pick up on it for a few hours, and I became really good at drunk texting. The only way anyone might get a clue I was drinking and texting was the frequency; I seldom text, but when I was drunk I was downright garrulous. But spelling and grammar were impeccable and I made sense.

Anyone curious about “tenant” gone bad needs to remember the nightmare that is Lauren Kanarek.

It did not sound to me like the worker owned the RV in this case. It sounded to me like the farm owner had the RV there, probably as a place for the employees to live.

Which is often the case, especially around Wellington. It could be much cheaper to provide modest housing for your staff (RV, barn apartment) than to pay them enough of a salary so that they could afford to pay rent somewhere off the property.

Plus that way you have them somewhat available 24 hours a day if there is an emergency. Sick horse, late return from a show, etc., etc.

In theory, anyway. In this case, unfortunately, it turned out that the worker was the emergency.

I had the exact same thought but didn’t want to Beetlejuice her.

That’s not uncommon here in the Midwest either.
Either a mobile home or ADU-type housing onsite provided as part of the worker’s pay.

I personally know of two instances where a long-term, living-on-property barn employee unexpectedly and violently turned on their employers, trying to kill them. Completely by surprise. The victims had no idea they were in danger.

In both cases the employers / farm owners were a couple. In one case the husband was killed and the wife was severely injured. In the other case, a fluke of an intervening object saved the lives and health of the couple.

In both cases the farm owners had had a long employment / landlord association with the employee, knew and trusted them. Both perpetrators were easily caught, as they appeared to have little plan for after the event. Both received long prison sentences (the murderer for life).

It would be helpful to know if there are some common identifying factors for a risk of a potentially deadly incident like this. But without an expert study we may not find out that information.

The headline tho, what an eye-twitcher…

The guy actually made a bomb, and it exploded…

“An updated story in the Bossier Press reveals more details surrounding the explosion. The bomb was placed under the Hewletts’ bedroom in the post-and-beam home and remotely detonated while they slept; the explosion launched both of them up into the air and off their bed. Their cat and three dogs were also sleeping inside the home at the time of the explosion and were uninjured.”

I am not catching what makes it an eye twitcher lol

Not that headline, the original post. “Severed off.” Ooof.

The bomb one is cool, I may have to do a PDR on that case to determine how they found a suspect!
