H/J Barns DENVER CO

If CSU is on the table, you will find considerably lower board, and I assume, training rates around Wellington and Fort Collins. Granted I don’t think those are programs that will attend the shows that you’re wanting. But if you are willing to haul out for lessons, that opens up some opportunities in terms of boarding facilities. You will find more open areas and turn out up north. Though I can’t help with how far some of these programs are from the Fort Collins area.

I agree that Elisebeth Hare would be a great option for the breeding aspect and she also does a very nice job with young horses. She’s few miles off i25 at Dacono, for routing/GPS purposes.

Laurie and Marissa are Snowfield Farm. It is an excellent program. http://snowfieldfarm.com/. If you are up in Fort Collins at CSU it’s a long drive to barns in Denver. Count on 1-1:45 hours each direction and more with commute traffic or bad weather. Sue Griffin is a super knowledgeable instructor in Fort Collins, though I don’t know if she is accepting clients.

Is Paul Rohrbach still around? Anyone know the details of his program?

Everyone here has listed all of the good options already, so I won’t rehash any of that. I lived in Boulder for 4 years before moving back to Virginia. I loved the CO horse community - really fantastic people and overall a very positive (though not ALL of my experiences were great) and supportive place to ride.

It’s a harder place to be if showing is your #1 endeavor as the Horse Park is pretty much the only option without traveling for the winter. If you’re interested in just learning, riding, taking clinics, etc, there’s a lot the area can offer.

Prices are $$$ due to the high cost of land, water, and hay. Even then good turnout is VERY rare. Bridlewood for example turns out in teeny dirt paddocks for 4-5 hours a day. Legacy Valley has the same turnout challenges. I used to board at a gorgeous facility with HUGE fields for the horses, and the owner kicked everyone out at the end of last year, tore up the stalls, and is getting ready to sell the land to developers now. That’s been the trend.

Regardless of where you end up, I’m sure you’ll like being in the Denver area for horses, at least for a little while! I’m glad to be back in “Horse Country USA” but I do miss the CO horse community!

Yes, he’s at Wells-Bridge in Parker.
Still does the shows. Seems to do more jumpers than hunters. I heard the facility is very nice.
I’ve seen him this year at CO Spring/Summer/Fall shows. Not sure what he does outside of those 10 weeks or so.

They are currently showing in California.
