Second the Ariat Covington chaps - they have a beautiful Spanish top, and the all important “zipper keeper” that stops the zipper from sliding down in the middle of your ride and scratching your saddle. I had the Close Contact ones, but love the Covington even more. With matching black Ariat paddock boots, you can’t tell they are tall boots.
WELL in a moment of weakness I ordered the Monacos from Smartpak… I’ve coveted them for years. I’m afraid they’ll be an inch and a half too tall… Then I saw that you guys liked the Covington’s also… but I’d ordered the Monacos first.
If Ariat’s sizes are too tall for me, I’ll have to go to a tread step which has a shorter height, but their paddock boots don’t come small enough for me.
Got the Monacos. Beautiful. Was afraid they’d be too tall (they are a touch but I think they’ll drop, they are a touch as I’m wearing them around the house). I almost couldn’t zip them but now that I did they feel amazing.
The boots are great too–but I think I’m between sizes. 
I want to wear these a while but don’t want to end up w/a pair that don’t fit!!! And the next size down is a special order.
