Halti head collars

Oh Christ - my dog is not doing agility, not nearly ready, as explained. I’m not a newbie, I’m not completely stupid, and my trainer has 30 years (not just 5 years). She is well thought of and people come from miles around. Dog was not pulling, there was nothing to get hung up on. We are ok, honest.

My suggestion is if your current practices are not working, try something different and ask around, borrow one, and see if it works. I did.

If he went on the teeter he can get caught on the teeter. Tell gravity and physics that you’re not “doing agility” and see if that prevents a strap from getting tangled on a 3D object.

I’ve seen dogs get hung up on agility obstacles and they weren’t wearing something with as many straps as a halti. You’re not ALLOWED to compete with your dog wearing something like that. There’s a reason. It’s not random.

They just took the chute out because a naked dog can get tangled in it. Dogs get caught in jumps/standards when they’re naked. I don’t know why you’d risk getting your dog hurt when you could swap out the halti for something else when you’re working on agility (or not working on it, or whatever you want to call it).

If he doesn’t pull wearing the halti doing agility (or not doing agility, however you want to characterize it) than why use the halti at that time? It makes no sense. It’s dangerous and you don’t need it. So why do it?

As you wish - you have a very superior tone…

K9 Bridle? Since the leash clips behind the head instead of under the jaw, it doesn’t have the same intrinsic turning action. Probably why your chiro prefers it but it’s less popular.

Are you just jonesing to argue with people? Was that why you posted this thread? The other Off Topic board is pretty good for that…
