We have a rather special 2017 gelding, bred in Germany and imported to UK as a foal. His ‘H’ brand is very unclear and poorly done, but the 17 underneath is as clear as day.
Yes Hanoverians still get branded in the US. Now we use the H brand with no number or letters below it. It is optional and it only happens when the foal gets registered or after. We did put the year of birth under the H for several years but that made the brand so big. Now that the Verband retired the brand in Germany we were allowed to use it with nothing under it. Same goes for the Rhineland brand Both registries managed by the AHS.
