I do think there are a lot of young vets “these days”* as opposed to 20-30 years ago that just don’t have the horse experience the average COTHer has. They go to vet school, learn the textbook/clinic way of dealing with something, and can’t ever see the benefit of something like icthammol, or sometimes the wait and see method.
*And god bless them because without young vets we’d eventually have no vets at all! But I do wish they’d have a good 10 years under their belt grooming or similar to get a feel for what really needs the vet and what doesn’t.
