Hard Spun off to Darley with one final stop

Glimmerglass: Thanks for bumping this.

I am a huge Larry Jones fan, and a huge Hard Spun fan also.

For anyone who is interested: I was at Darley two weeks ago and saw both Hard Spun and Street Sense. They go out in paddocks that are right next to each other, and they both look fabulous and happy. The stallion life seems to be agreeing with them!

A wonderful article on the ups and downs of Larry & Cindy Jones.

Philadelphia Inquirer June 1, 2008 “He lost a horse but is keen on keeping reputation”

By the way - props to Hard Spun:

TB Times May 31, 2008 “Hard Spun named first Pennsylvania-bred horse of the year”

[the ceremony held] Friday night at the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association’s Iroquois Awards Dinner.

The 29th annual event, held at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pennsylvania, honored 2007 divisional winners and breeders of all state-bred stakes winners. This year marked the first time a state-bred horse of the year was named.

Co-breeder Betty Moran of Malvern, Pennsylvania, accepted Hard Spun’s awards for both three-year-old male and horse of the year on behalf of her son, Michael Moran, and Brushwood Stables.

Well good for Hard Spun! I can’t wait until his kids start hitting the ground.

But this story reminds me of something on my “To Do” list:

-Eduate the general Tennessee populace that Iroquois was a PA-bred, not a TN-bred as advertised everywhere.
