Twister is doing fine. On really cold days in winter, I give her some bute. The ankle looks like it did, no better, no worse. She takes care of it but doesn’t seem in pain except a little ouchy on cold days like the kind that bother a lot of people’s arthritis.
Seeing as this has been bumped now I want to see a pic, has she had some nice foals for you?
Unfortunately, haven’t bred her yet. I got tied up right after this in acute worsening of my Mom’s illness and several-year family crises. I’ve got some nice semen in the tank and will be starting to work on that again.
Photobucket has become the most unhelpful snarl to use lately, so I’m sure the earlier links don’t work. I’ll take some new pictures of her ankle tomorrow in the daylight and post on COTH. It really does look like a beanbag, but she is sound on it (though never bucking/running/flinging) 98% of the time. It’s just really cold days where she gets a bit gimpy.
The next time you have the Vet out, it might be a good idea to ultrasound, to check the suspensories. If there is any suspensory problem, the added weight of pregnancy might be a potential issue to discuss with the Vet?
I’ve had the vet examine her thoroughly and discussed that with him. So did her prior owner after the injury. She has been bred since the injury and had zero problems.
Here’s the ankle.
That is a really unusual injury, and good news that Vet did not think it would cause problems for breeding her.
That is quite the joint!
I had one with an even more strange leg, no heat, just cold hard leg that never seemed to bother her at all, guessing it was proud flesh that was ignored in her younger days
