Hay question

My MN hay guy regularly got 5 cuttings. The guy I bought hay from last year–new guy, as I needed small bales to take to CT with us–got in six that year. Hay in MN is a crazy, crazy thing.

I think the farmers around here are going to be lucky to get 2 cuttings this summer. No wonder it’s so much more expensive than in the midwest!

Yes i feed alfalfa. Looking at second load it appears to be grass/timothy i’m not seeing a lot of alfalfa. Like alfalfa because it for most part keeps weight on the boys. They won’t keep good weight with just grass/timothy hay. So will see when i open a bale from second load. Second load came from different supplier so who knows, said i want alfalfa rounds 1000 pounders. Doubt there will be a second cutting if there is, it would be iffy on how good it would be.

Got this email today on late cut hay www.thehorse.com

That articles says just about the same thing as many have posted about here. Good info.
