I’m lost here.
First post seemed to be asking how to stop mini without having to police him.
People suggested shutting a stall door or two.
Last post said sitting and supervising was working fine.
So what is the question?
Switch ration balancers. My Cushings pony ate Triple Crown for years but a while back he decided he didn’t like it anymore. I don’t know why - reformulation?, storage issues at the feed store? I don’t know. So I switched him to Gro’N’Win and he gobbles that right up. If he doesn’t really like the TC he is going to be searching for “better stuff”.
I asked wondering if there was a simple answer when it first happened.
Refereeing in horse’s stall worked, but it meant me standing on my wonky knees longer.
Seems like I found my own answer - at least what works for me.
I can sit until horse is done.
Now if I go on vacation, I can take a COTH suggestion & have farmsitter close mini’s back door & release M. Kracken when horse is done eating. IF farmsitter doesn’t mind taking the extra step.
@SusanO mini is finishing about 90% of the TC Sr, feeder is near empty PM & next morning.
Whatever is left becomes part of the next cup fed.
If he eats less/leaves more I can try a local version: Tribute Essential K - but that means a trip to a feedstore farther away
I find that every time I have a Brilliant Time Saving System, I spend the equivalent to the time saved, +50% with added fulmination, when the Brilliant System fails and I have to retrain my mini not to be a Kraken, for example.
Sorry, no solution better than “shut the door,” just sympathy and a bit of schadenfreude!
@Xanthoria Well, my Brilliant TSS may pay off.
I am spending ~5-10min sitting while horse makes All Gone,
But, this morning, my Kraken ate more of his own grain than he’s been doing - maybe 10% still in the pan when I allowed him access to his stall… where he has been immediately Exiting Stage Left to go into horse’s stall (Do Not Pass Go ). He also made a short stop at his pan when I put it inside the stall, to grab another mouthful.
So I can hope he will return to making my Life a bit easier
Minis: What they lack in size, they make up for with Thoughtpower.
Pony may be a 4-letter word, but MINI is the same, all in CAPS!
