You are really really invested in trying to convince this forum that this guy is amaze-balls and I’m sorry but it’s just not working.
I see a lot of words - but don’t see anyone giving an actual example of someone who has done it. I am merely asking for a proof. That said this forum is really invested in describing how many more skilled horse man are there - but I could not see one example, which I find rather odd just from the common sence perspective.
And using the language you are using only shows that you have no better argument.
Oh dear. Go on TikTok and search “riding my horse with no tack.” I expect you will find about 1001 teenagers doing this.
I don’t know what the horse is doing. I see it as the rider pissing around a bit making horse back and sidestep to make it look resistant. Then rider stops cueing lateral work and horse walks forward down the kind of dry path that I expect my trail horse to do without any hesitation every single time we go out. The horse here is either confused, mildly resistant, or is being cued to make a fake resistance. It’s all so mild that no one is on any danger of falling off and the death grip on the mane likely counteracts the slouchy grippy insecure seat. That horse is barely balking. Not bucking or rearing or anything.
I’m not posting photos of myself riding to debate with some anonymous semi-troll who won’t even tell us whether they actually ride or not. Good grief, how naive do folks think we are here?
But actually I reflected and realized I am totally wrong about what’s going on in the video.
Clearly this horse has seen a ghost. And if the rider has studied Celtuc mythology he would recognize this.
Classic horse seen a ghost moment. I dunno maybe some holy water or a silver horseshoe nail or some garlic might help?
And if you don’t know what cab happen when you lose control of a horse near a busy road, then you don’t know anything about horses.
Video of any horse trainer you consider successful will be great - I don’t mean your own videos.
Cueing fake resistance etc. is really just no sence. The horse is not bucking or rearing because of the rider.
You are either not understanding the situation or diagreeing for the sake of it and the part with garlic points to the latter - which I also do not understand.
For the last part - rider that can control a scared horse by a bysy road would be an example I am looking for.
That horse does not look the least bit scared to me. He looks angry or annoyed.
You seem to be asking people to find a video that matches the exact conditions of the video you posted. That’s a bit unlikely given the conditions in your video don’t seem to be the way you describe them to us.
However, a search of videos on Youtube quickly brought up videos such as this one, of a horse with an apparently spooky nature being ridden bareback and brideless in a large field: https://youtu.be/rmG9V8M0mXE
There’s lots out there
I fell deep into the rabbithole of amazing liberty/trick riders so it took me a while to respond. Lots and lots of really phenomenal videos to get lost in!
So first, trying to fulfill your specific criteria as closely as possible:
Are you familiar with American feral/wild mustangs? There are competitions in the US for horses that are newly removed from the wild. These are mostly about ~100-120 days removed from the wild so in other words, these horses absolutely meet whatever your criteria is for Hempfling’s field riding. (In fact, I doubt Hempfling works with many horses quite this literally wild. Though I do believe he’s a good enough horseman that he’d probably be able to be pretty successful with getting wild mustangs to the same levels as in these videos.)
While I haven’t researched the trainers’ martial arts backgrounds, I assume they are not all black belts.

Same trainer: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1076346862388566
Various mustang trainers:
I’m not sure why you’re eliminating trained horses from your comparison because those horses had to have been trained by a human - and I think we can assume that most horses were trained by non-Hempfling methods And yet, they can still perform in noisy, scary, unfamiliar places even without Hempfling’s training. Here are non-mustangs:

Liberty/trick riders are definitely fun to watch! I’m diving back into that rabbithole now. Neat stuff! I understand why people like it.
I controlled an often-scared horse out on trail all the time, as my (now retired) endurance horse Phin is extremely reactive. Does it count if it’s not bareback and brideless?
That culvert is seriously scary! Good boy, Phinn!
Malin Brayard has a wonderful video of herself jumping her GP horse without tack.
YOU are not understanding the situation if you can’t tell the difference between a scared horse and an angry horse. Scared horse do not wring their tails like that.
How do you perceive this?

All through connection baby Absolutely no training or prep went into this match race
As for someone who has done that? Check out Harmony Horsemanship. Tackless riding on the beach…… horse free on beach.
Oh and what about the famous pinto Goldrush from Australia?? Jumps 5ft tackless!

Maybe her horse isn’t scared, but the reason it isn’t is because of the confidence she has granted it. That’s the goal.
Love this video. Saw them years ago at Dressage in the Wine Country. Makes me think of the photo on the cover of Melanie Smith Taylor’s book. Kathy Kusner rode as a child with Jane Marshall Dylan and jumped her little quarter horse tackless. Katie M. Prudent as a child rode at Bill McQueen’s barn and would jump her QH, Tina, bareback, with my friend Kathy riding behind her, facing BACKWARDS.
These guys all turned out pretty well without learning judo or whatever first.
Definitely not a native English speaker.
Are you saying you want to see someone trying to control a spooked horse by a busy road with no tack? That is not going to happen. Because we are not idiots and dont want our horses to die.
A video of a horse spooking under saddle? Are everywhere.
But the reason I would never take my mare around traffic or even parking lot with no halter or bridle is not that she’s scared of traffic. Rather the opposite. She isn’t scared enough. She thinks traffic will stop for her. She would wander out and get killed. Car accidents and horses are horrific. Worst nightmare scenario. You don’t take chances with that.
The reason you won’t find many videos like that is also because majority of people who do this type of training and work with horses do so in a way that they build immense trust and communication. Horses aren’t spooky and scared in many scenarios because the person working with the horse has given them the tools to handle stress and fear.
I would happily invite buddy to come hop on any of my TB mares tackless when they are spooked and show me how to work through it and not get yeeted into the next county in the process
Exactly. The training for courage or whatever you choose to call it happens before you get on the horse, and happens so incrementally that an observer never notices the horses working through anxiety
That said every horse can blow up from a startle or sheer high energy, even a “bombproof” one.
I strive to remain neutral and supportive on here because real life is plenty contentious, but this whole topic is very much giving me a kind of Black Stallion Syndrome by Proxy vibe. In the above video, I saw an exasperated horse getting confusing cues and doing a mitzvah by not exiting stage left post haste. One could’ve filmed something pretty similar in my childhood pasture when I’d harass my pony into going along with my belief that I could be like Alec from the books.
Yeah. Compared to the other videos nothing screams " master of horsemanship" about that video. More like cousin Billybob got drunk at the barbecue and went into the back pasture to try riding the unbroke 2 year old bareback and OMG that pony is a saint, but I thought we were going to end up calling an ambulance.
