Highlife Farm Auction

I am curious about any buyers premiums etc on the horses. I can’t seem to get info.

here is the link to the listing of all the horses, scroll down to see the pedigrees of all of them

We, too, would like information as to what time the auction begins, terms and conditions, etc. --generally, how to participate in the auction. We are inquiring for a friend who is interested in the dressage and pony offerings.

re: champion de lux - all you need to do is google his name  he is a very well used stallion in the pony circles… his offspring are very nice.

i dont know anything about the mare tho.

where is the pony stallion? Bodyguard?

Danse Diabolique and Limited Edition are now standing at Karrasel Farms here in Saskatchewan. Haven’t seen the stallions or any of their horses in person as they don’t seem to show on the SK circuit, so I can’t speak to their condition or future. http://karrasel.com/stallions.html

Just saw an ad in the new Equine Journal for the auction, possibly will draw some interest in these horses!

Here you can see pictures of all (or almost all, I got tired of scrolling) the horses and if you click on the thumbnail a larger image will appear- then scroll down the page and it will tell you which horse that is and (in most cases) it will say: No reserve =)
I did not see the minimum bid listed for the stallions…

I know the lady that owns these stallions, met her at a breeder course in May. Really nice, dedicated breeder that loves her stallions…I am sure their future is secure.

Sounds like they’ve already been sold then.

Although Diamond Stud, Der Dollar and others were previously at Dreamscape farm, it looks like they do not have them any more. I’d love to know where Pilox ends up. Always liked him, but would never use him when Kenny & Joan owned him.

Ill be heading over to bid. It is 1.5 hours away. I’ll see if I can pick up something cheap. I think the prices will be all over but you never know if something good can be snagged.

Good luck, and I hope you can help some of those horses find a soft landing.

I have passed the word to a bunch of folks I know - incl. some stallion owners, but not too many people have much wiggle room these days for extra horses.

Such a sad, sad situation…:frowning:

Thyank you, we do love both stallions and are quite happy with our first foal crop fr

Danse Diabolique has 3 lovely fillies this year old Limited Edition has 2 colts and 2 fillies as well. Several people bred to the stallions last yaer and all seem happy with thier foals. In 2011 a Limited Edition colt was high scoring Oldenburg colt at imspection and the owner plans to retain him as a stallion. Both stallions are doing well. We showed Limited Edition in 2011 and he was wonderful, but we try to show only horses we have for sale so of course he is home in the paddock this year.
As for showing, we have been very busy on the show trail, we started out year in February at the Keystone Centre in Brandon Mb. (2 shows) then the first weekend in March we went back there. The end of March we showed at Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, and debated about going to Moose Jaw Spring Classic but declined and went to Red Deer Maine Enent instead. Since then we have shown at Wheat City Classic, Provincial Exhibition Summer show, and Budweiser Beach PArty show. We are entered in the Derby and Heart of the Continent the end of July and the 1st week of August. I would love to show in Saskatchewan but the shows don’t seem to draw enough exposure, but I do plan on going to the Ebon show in August…I am told it’s after Heart and we participate in most of the CWHA’s inspections and thier showcase which is held on the September long weekend.
My apologies for not being more of a presence in Saskatchewan, I will try to remedy that in the future, the comment was helpful, and well taken.
p.s. THis is the first forum I have ever taken part in, I look forward to chatting more, in the future. I too, would love to have more of the HL horses, but I too have limits on what I can reasonably do. My partner and I are…well shall I say aging, hopefully in a graceful fashion, but we know we can take no more at this time and have cut way back!
I do hope for the best for all the lovely horses up for auction…cheers to all of you…

I have just read through this blog with interest, some of the points made me sad, some made me smile and some got me a little aggitated! Let’s not forget, regardless of how you feel about the owners, that the Highlife horses are pretty spectacular and a group like this don’t come around too often. I hope people don’t see it as a way to get themselves a “cheap” horse. I do know most of the Highlife horses very well as I was fortunte enough to ride a lot of them and I was at the 2010 Wellington auction (when quite a few of the horses sold after the auction incidentally). Yes, Der Euro is up for sale and yes he did cost a bezzillion dollars, yes, Der Dollar is up for sale and yes he did get his lifetime breeding award based on his dressage scores in Wellington. With regard to Navina…german in hand champion, beautiful mind, very good pony. She is dam of Bulgari Boy is probably one of the nicest ponies in America right now - in the right hands he could be no 1.

To Karrasel - I am so happy that Danse and Limi are with you. Danse, not only being a rare black Donnerhall son, is probably as close to physical perfection conformationally as you can get. Limi always was my favourite stallion - he’s such a gent. I usually try to think of a human counterpart with horses and Danse was always Johnny Depp and Limi was Sean Connery!

As you can tell, I’m pretty passionate about the horses and if I could I would buy at least 6 of them - unfortunately I no longer live in US and it is not possible to get them over here. I hope they all find very good loving homes for life.

Thanks guys for the information, I checked out all the photos! What a nice group of horses, I really hope that they get some good homes.

I noticed the actual farm can be bid on via online, wonder if any of the horses can be bid on online? I would love to keep an eye on it online and if the price is fair for one of the pony mares I would be interested.

Also, what do you guys know about any of the pony mares being auctioned one is by Champion De Lux. What can you say about that stallion any experience? The mare is High Lifes Navina.

Navina is an awesome pony.[/COLOR]

Yes, it is sad about the demise of Highlife Farms. I’m excited about the auction though… I have two dressage horses that are getting older and would love to have a younger one coming along. Dionysius is gorgeous! Can’t really tell about his movement and I’m sure he has a hugh reserve… does anyone know about these horses?

Forty Oaks…there are videos of them on you Tube - these are the videos from the previous auction in 2010 but at least you can see something. Let me know if you can’t find it and I’ll send you the link.

Thanks, DMA. I found it… very helpful!

I’m very excited to be heading over tomorrow to preview the horses, equipment etc. I’ll make sure to bring my camera to the auction. I Probably won’t come home with anything, but there certainly will be photos!

Im going to head over next sunday. let us know how everything looks!!

I’m curious if anyone saw the online bidding details and have to ask if this is normal? You have to send a deposit of $5000 to be able to bid online…I have seen before where you need your bank account when you register, but not the 5k in advance. I doubt some of the horses/ponies/mini’s will go for this much…so why? No reserve but minimum 5k deposit. I’m not very familiar with horse auctions, or online auctions for that matter, so I’m just curious.
