I recall one client that decided to try conservative management instead of surgery. They wound up spending as much money as the older more pet-grade surgical repair option and more time, but of course the costs were spread out rather than required all at once. It also requires a dog who can stay sane with TONS of crate rest and owners who are 100% diligent about restricted activity.
