Hoof trimming -- ARE YOU SH***ING ME? :-)

Hmmm, a foot stand. Hadn’t considered that. I’m always trying to rasp from the bottom of the hoof, to maintain the bevel and take off any flare. Could I get that effect using a hoof stand? I visualize the farrier rasping from the top that way. But maybe also from the bottom.

Would make the job much easier.

One day I want to buy a hoof jack with a cradle. I think it would make it so much easier on my back!

Yes, HoofJack! I trim my three, and don’t mind buying some good tools with the money I’ve saved. It is hard WORK! When my gelding was young and Ill-mannered, and I was fat and out of shape, I would do two feet at a time. Now I can do 2 horses I a row, but I never let them get very long.

vallorbe Spirit rasps are my favorite. Pricey, but ime they last longer. I buy them cheaper by the box of 5 from Centaur Forge.
