My wish is that social media such as Facebook would discriminate between sales of riding horses and breeder sales. Allowing breeder sales on Facebook is bad policy and too easily absused. Don’t get me started on puppy sales. Same thing as baby horses. Everyone wants a puppy or foal, then they don’t want it when it’s grown… If you’re a breeder and have to sell on Facebook, you need another gig.[/QUOTE]
Just curious, but where do you think the adult riding horses come from? They do not just spring from the womb fully grown, broke and ready to jump around.
Without breeders there would be no horses to ride, so maybe you ought to rethink whom you are targeting. Sure there are the puppy mill types, and the big ranching operations that do as you say, breed a bunch and hope for a few standouts. I do not agree with that mindest, but there are many small breeders that are thoughtful and dedicated to putting a quality foal on the ground, purpose bred for a job. We spend a lot of time deciding on how to breed our mares, waiting for them to foal, enduring heartbreaking losses, celebrating joyous occasions, and caring for the mares and babies so that they grow up to be the dream riding horse someone is looking for. You dont have to like it, thats fine, but maybe be a little more respectful for those of us that do, and sacrifice a lot to put quality foals on the ground.
