I use eventers on nearly all my horses. I think they give just enough grip. Not too much like borium can be. I have also used lite rims when I couldn’t get the eventers.
My Ky Mountain horse is different tho. I have Eventers on the front and some plain shoes with tiny bit of borium on the back. If she is on anything slick, like pavement, her back feet feel like they will go out from under her. So I have went with the borium on the back.
