Horse Trailer Deep Cleaning

I have realized my horse trailer is in dire need of a deep clean, like mats out, scrub interior and exterior etc. Does anyone know of any people in the mid Atlantic area that do this? I will drop it off somewhere, don’t need someone to come to me. Most people just do it on their own and I have many times, but I’m swarmed at work and just want to get it done ASAP. Thanks in advance.

DiBella will do it. Last price I heard was around $250. You need to make sure that if you want the top of the fiberglass roof cleaned and waxed you specify that. From what I understand that is not normally done.

That’s a chunk of change for that but having just done it myself on a trailer I traded in, it’s bloody awful job. I think it took me about 4 hours. Pulling the mats was the worst part and the primary reason I got WERM flooring on the new trailer. That’s a back injury just waiting to happen muscling those things off and back on.

There is an RV car wash nearby and we use that to clean the trailer. Including mats and vaccuuming the gooseneck area, it takes about an hour, so including the time to get there and go home, it’s maybe 2.

It has hot water, soap and rinse all in pressure hoses on beams that you can walk around to get all the parts. You need a lot of quarters, and the cost is about $10 for a good scrub.

This is one of those things that if your own hourly rate (or valuation of your free time) Is more than $250 then you have someone else do it. Otherwise, spend your 2 hours and $10.

Yep. This is what I did with great results. I do wish that I had some of those mat grippers, but I was still able to get the mats out myself and power wash the flooring as well as the mats.

The biggest annoyance was making sure to keep pumping in quarters before the machine turned off because it cost $2 to start it up again. I took my son with me (age 8) and made that his “job” and let him rinse the trailer, which he loved. Bonus family time!

Considering how quickly my horse defiles his magic rolling box, I want to clean mine a few times a year. So the car wash approach is perfect.

I am unfamiliar with your area, however, around here, at least some of the large truck stops have a trailer clean-out service catering to livestock haulers with the large semi-tractor-trailers, etc. I used such a place for my aluminum 3H GN horse trailer and they were glad to have my business, even though I was not their typical customer. It’s been a while, but it was nowhere near $250.

Perhaps the truck stops in your area offer such a service.
