Horse workout [Equibase] question

I read about this too and I believe like many others, it has piqued my curiousity as well. I understand that this is a very small track. I don’t believe that getting this figured out should be hard once contact can be made with the connections to the horse with the reported workout- just flip the lip and check the tattoo- it should match. If it is in fact the named horse that went to the rescue nearly a year ago, then one has to question who THAT horse is? It’s great that ‘A horse’ found safety at the time last year, but if it is not the horse it was thought to be then hopefully the rescue will figure out who it is. I get that the rescue doesn’t care, but if there was something amiss about the transferance at the time then I would certainly believe the appropriate governing agencies [TRPB/and others] would be interested, imo.

Pretty much sharing your thoughts, though if in the same situation as that rescue, I’d sure be beating down doors to get the correct information.

Many times the names are hollered from the ground or from a rider up to the clockers and names are misheard or misspelled.
With all the horses whose names sound alike, Storming Gold, Storm of Gold, Storms of Old etc… it’s easy for errors to be made.
Send out 2, a bay colt and a chestnut filly and say the bay colt XXXX and the chestnut filly is ZZZZZ. Filly outworks colt by 2 lengths but the report shows XXXX working faster.

Which probably explains why Thorn Song’s name turned up working at one of the FLA tracks earlier this year. Of course, his fans knew he was in CA still battling laminitis, with only a 70% chance of being able to stand stud, and 0% chance of ever running again.

One of the first workout notices I ever got for a Smarty foal was for Dr. Smarty Jack, from Sunland. Now I knew DSJ was purchased as a turf horse and was in Clement’s barn. And I sort of doubt Clement could find Sunland on a map. Never did figure out what caused that mistake – it seems like a name that’d be hard to confuse with another. (The real “Dr.” turned up at Saratoga a month later.)

Ok first off gotta say, I so want to go to Yavapai Downs now!!! These are great and nice people.

Spoke to Wally and the racing secretary just now. It appears that others have already bombarded the racing secretary at his home, on his cell, in his office and in his email!! Nothing like FOB"s scorned. Anyway they almost 100% do not believe that it was Coloreado who worked. But to give us a firm concrete answer the racing secretary is going to speak to the clocker in question and once he speaks to them will tell Wally who will call me back. (This may be a longshot to actually get a call back, but if they do call, for sure I will make a pilgrimage out there to increase their handle by $100 one day!)

They do believe there is another name close. One look at the online names list showed me that there is a “Colorando” but nothing pulls up on Cal racing for it. Though its a Cal bred, so geographically in the right place, and a 2005 model, so a better age.

Far as we can tell the right horse is not at the track. I won’t go so far as to say he’s definitely the one at Tierra Madre, but there’s less reasons for it not to be him if they did indeed get the name wrong.

I will update if I get another call.

Thank you for letting us know this was simply a “clerical error.”
