One more thing. It’s been really really wet due to the amount of rain we’ve been getting. Everywhere is flooded. Should I be concerned about the footing? It’s only going to get worse over the next 3 weeks and that’s my entire trial period. Should I wait anyway? I can alternate the turnout times. My herd during the night and newbie during the day but that’s not really practical I don’t think.

I would only be concerned about the footing if the newbie didn’t have a lot of turnout or hasn’t been turned out in mud before. A horse that has/had limited turnout and in a pristine environment can be very fresh and not pay attention to the footing.
