How is the horse market?
I was shopping for off the track this spring. What I found was that prices have seemed to have gone up (at least here). A couple years ago, trainers would have been willing to part with many for free to $1000. Now they are asking $2000-$3000 and getting it very quickly.

No judgement here, I’m glad that people are realizing the value of OT horses. They are still beyond reasonably priced.
What part of the country are you in? I’ve got several that we bred, raised, broke, and trained enough to know they weren’t fast enough to warrant the expense of keeping on the track. They have been off the track over a year, most never raced. These are nice well-made TBs with no issues. Nothing to suggest they wouldn’t pass PPE with flying colors. Good movers and all are jumping well. Some up to 3’. Push button not exactly but all have good minds, cross-tie and or just stand to be tacked. They are good in the ring and outside the ring around our farm, logs, jumps, trails etc. Priced $3,500 to $6,500. Priced below what the “pro-re sellers” said to price them at. All I get are BS offers. Granted I have not put a lot of effort into marketing them. But that will change soon.

I have him on warmbloods-for-sale.com as well as on kijiji. So far I have had one response. I should really try a couple facebook pages as well since it doesn’t hurt to post in additional places.

I have had a few people proof the ad and all are saying it looks good. This is after asking for an HONEST opinion. I might have succeeded in screening out some of the inappropriate matches by specifying that he would make a better 2nd pony as he wouldn’t be a good fit for a beginner so that could be why I am feeling like I am receiving less responses than usual.

This is true! There’s a guy up the line from me regularly moving green TWH trail horses whom I strongly suspect have no brakes for anywhere between five and ten thousand! Considering I picked up my guys a few years back for less than a truck payment, that really blew my mind. But he’s getting it! And this in H/J land, not a TWH part of the country at ALL. My nice horses just appreciated quite a BIT! :D
He’s getting the high prices because there’s not a lot of TWH in your area. Same with So. California. I’m on the facebook page for gaited horses and the horses in the South, where they’re more common, are much, much lower priced. And gait well.

My guy “gaits well,” we just don’t know what gait it IS!
