How long until this freaking bee sting stops hurting?

Unfortunately won’t help this time anymore, but for future reference. Vinegar. I just apply a cotton ball, paper towel or cloth soaked in vinegar. Keep the sting soaked for 5-10 minutes.

My brother used to keep bees when we were kids and an old beekeeper taught him this one. Every time I’ve used it, I don’t even know I’ve been stung a half hour later.

One got under my shirt and stung me three days ago.
I was working with a crew and could not get out of my shirt, had to fish the silly thing out of there while no one was looking.

What works for me is to keep putting Bengay liniment on it, other just won’t do anything for it.

It is a bump the size of a marble and red around it too, itchy and hurting.

Wondering how long before it settles down, it is annoying.

OP and others, hoping you get over it quickly, those are no fun.

I have “found” 2 yellow jacket nests this week, and been stung in both incidents. Proved that I can still run pretty fast for an old lady when motivated! Those hurt, and keep hurting, and what finally worked was dabs of Epsom salt poultice (the jarred stuff). Really made the pain go away.

I was talking to my vet and he’d seen something about how electric current helps, so when he last got stung, he grabbed the electric fence and got a good zap. Says that made the bee sting pain go away, but he wasn’t sure if it just made him think about the pain from the fence instead. I don’t think I’ll try that one myself!

Hah hah, like the joke about the doctor who’s patient said “Doc, my head hurts something terrible” and the doctor stomped on her foot and she said “Doc, what’d ya do that for? that really hurts” Doc said, “How’s your head ache now?” and pt said “what head ache, you broke my foot!”

Thought of this thread over the weekend - OP, I had a similar bad local reaction to a sting in around the same time as you in early July. Like another poster suggested, it was a precursor to a severe reaction - this weekend I ended up in the ER and will now carry an epi-pen with me EVERYWHERE. Just be aware that this could be your next sting too :frowning:

the best way to make a bee sting feel better is to find their nests, get a can of bee spray, wait until dusk, and kill their queen

This was me last week. One sting. Hand swelled like a balloon. 4 days for it to some down enough I could put my wedding ring back on .

I’ve been told that the green Epsom salts goo is good for stings such as this. A friend tried it in a pinch after being stung at the barn and said she was amazed.
