How many pairs of breeches do you own?

This looks like a thread for me! I am obsessed with breeches. I’ve been riding on and off my whole life so I have quite a few old ones too. In this list I am only counting breeches that I currently own, fit, and are wearable.

3 Fouganza- very basic cheap cotton pairs. I got them when riding in Europe one summer years ago and I didn’t want to ship breeches over or spend a lot of money. They’re comfortable for wearing around the barn (feel like leggings) but I hate riding in cotton and they are self patch which i also hate so these are basically barn work/hanging around pants when I’m not planning to ride, or for trails.

1 Devon Aire-Pull on schooler, very old probably got them in highschool, still fit but they are basically barn work/trail riding pants now.

1- Irideon Issential tights- Also got these when I was in highschool, have some pulls and holes but I still ride in them. These are pretty much summer only. I keep meaning to get another pair as they are nice but since they are so basic and kind of “boring” I tend to buy more fun pants instead. Maybe I will buy some when the old ones finally bust. I kind of feel like Irideon is a bit thicker than kerrits and doesn’t show imperfections like cellulite as bad.

1- Kerrits icefil fullseat- Just got these so not much to say yet. I don’t have many summer riding pants and its been blistering so I ordered some the other week.

2 -Horseware tights-The mesh ones, I also just got these with the Kerrits order so haven’t worn them much yet. They are basically built like a workout pant, very comfortable. The knee patches are a light, thin micro suede like material, which is nice and light/cool for the summer but I don’t know how well thats going to hold up, feels kind of delicate.

1- Noble outfitters- balance tight with silicone knee patches. Love these, they are basically spanx for riding. They smooth everything out. The material is kind of thick though so I don’t wear these on super hot days. I want to get some more if I find them on sale.

1-Ariat sport side zip show breech- These are also from years ago, I wore them when I rode hunters. They still fit and still in good shape, they are just schooling breeches now.

1-piper kneepatch-not my favorite, not crazy about the fit and the fact I have to size up 2 sizes with pipers. Also the material is not super durable, it pills, stretches out, fades. They do have very pretty color combinations though so are tempting when they are having sales on them, I think I got this pair on clearance for $35. I have to stop myself from buying pipers because they are pretty and cheap, but I know I don’t really like them.

1-Hadley knee patch- Like these much more than pipers. I am planning to get another pair or 2 when a color I like shows up. So light, stretchy and comfortable.

1-FITS Performax full seat front zip-Haven’t had these long but they are super comfortable and basically feel like wearing pajamas. Also very flattering on my short legged and fluffy self. A bit on the warmer side so I haven’t been wearing them in the heat.

1-Tailored Sportsman-Vintage patch mid rise in french blue. Very pretty but not my favorite. The only pair on this list I paid full price for because TS is never on discount. I used to wear the old school no stretch show breeches back in the day for hunters so when I got back into riding I was kind of curious how these newer ones with stretch are and everyone raves about them. I mean they’re nice, but they don’t fit me as well and don’t seem as nice of quality (or have the range of designs) as the Euro brands below which I can find for far cheaper than TS on European sites. So when it comes down to it i’d rather just buy Pikeur.

2-Equiline- Cedar full seat and Ash knee patch. Love everything about them except that they run small. Similar in fabric and construction to Pikeur, but cut a bit different. Very comfortable and flattering also nice quality. I am always on the look out for these on sale on european sites but since they run so small and I have to size up, my size is not that common and hard to find.

1-Samshield- The clothilde model. Freaking LOVE these, they are so flattering and comfortable. They are thin and very stretchy, feel like wearing a second skin. Great for the summer. I absolutely want more but they are hard to find on sale and usually still pricey. Not sure how durable they will turn out to be, I haven’t had them that long yet. The quality is nice they are just thinner and more delicate than other breeches in this price range.

4-Pikeur- 2 prisca, and a ciara and lucinda. By far my favorite brand. So many styles, great quality and comfort, actually seem to fit my weird shaped body pretty well and usually have my size. I have a huge list I want to get but I wait until they are on clearance.

Thats 21 pairs…if I didn’t forget any. Kind of embarrassing considering I am currently only riding once a week, not competing (but planning to go back into it), and don’t currently have a horse or lease. I am planning to ride more often again in the future so that is kind of my justification…stock up on the clothes now before I have a horse to feed lol!

I never pay full price (unless I have a giftcard and even then I don’t like to) and I love hunting for breeches on clearance that happen to be my size. Thats why I have so many when I don’t actually need them, because I enjoy the bargain hunt so much! Also I just enjoy trying a lot of different brands. I am very curious about romfh, animo and cavallo at the moment.

LOVE your user name!! Thanks for sharing about your breeches!

Sort of makes me want to go shopping! And I don’t NEED any breeches. I think I may have about 75 pairs. Now, I am embarrassed to admit, I have several sizes, well, because I have been several sizes. :o

Thanks! I used to have pink pikeurs but I can’t find any to fit my adult self. They are usually in the kids sizes :frowning: It is my goal to find some again LOL.

Yes! I just like shopping in general so it kind of just carries over to the horse world. Breeches are probably my worst thing though. I like shirts but I am worse with breeches. I am also pretty bad with brushes for some reason, since they are inexpensive I just seem to pick them up all the time. I also have several sizes…but I feel like I change sizes every day haha!

OMG this is amazing. Maybe I should go shopping. I have FIVE pairs of schooling breeches, ride 5-6 days/week, same breeches all year round. They are Pipers. I have ONE pair of show breeches, Ovation Aqua X.
I’m a complete opposite of hoarder. If I dont like it, or it doesnt fit, it goes away.

Harry Halls?
I think the question needs to be more clear. How many you own, or, how many you regularly wear? Oh, that’s different! 6 pairs, in regular rotation.

I have 3 tights, one from over ten years ago don’t know the brand. 2 are Kerrits but slightly too big and make my butt look especially horrendous but since I rarely ride in them if everything is still in the laundry cycle I will use them since they’re available. I just got 3 pairs of full seat breeches so I expect I don’t have to worry about the tights anymore.

For two years I rode once a week and had 1 pair of tights. I added another ride and bought 2 more tights since it seemed one pair was always still drying (all my breeches air-dry).

Now I ride 5-6 days a week on 1 horse and given laundry and weather I’ve been expanding my breech collection. I recently figured out I feel much better in full seat breeches since my saddle is slippery.

I discovered this year that I like breeches with a belt as opposed to tights. I have a c-section shelf and loose skin so anything with a waist that can go low will annoyingly stay there but belted breeches help a ton. I will keep searching for the best breeches for me - long torso, pear, aforementioned c-section shelf, 5’6" and overweight.

It never occurred to me to try to sell my non-favorite breeches…

1 Tuffrider knee patch - I don’t really ride in these regularly at all, I don’t like how they feel. I bought them for my first show when I only had the 3 tights.
1 Kerrits cross over knee patch - rise is too low, kind of avoid them. Should probably post on ebay.
1 Ovation knee patch - meh, have been avoiding them should probably sell them. Nothing wrong with them just the waist is a too low for my preference.
1 Horze high waist silicone full seat - the fit is funky (high waist but feels like they are midrise?) but overall they are ok although I haven’t ridden in them since the weather warmed up because they are black. They were my go-to since they are silicone full seat but I think there are better options so they probably won’t stay my favorites now that I think about it and I can get better full seat breeches hopefully.

1 Piper full seat silicone - I like these but have only ridden once in them so far.
I tried the non-silicone (faux suede?) full seat Pipers and they are so going back. The waist is too low.

2 full seat suede brand unknown. One French Blue one Plum. I bought them used and they were super cheap and I wanted more full seat breeches asap. They are cotton so they are thick but not bad for anything except the worst hot/humid days.

1 Devon-Aire cotton knee patch - LOVE these but can’t find them anywhere not to mention wanting full seat! Bought on sale at local tack shop. Perfect rise for me. Haven’t worn them this summer because they are Navy.

1 Tredstep Nero II knee patch - my absolute favorite breeches. Paid full price happily since they fit so well in the tack store. The waistband is thick and the material is so nice in my opinion. I just wish they were full seat.

I keep hearing about Romfh so I think I will try those next.

Not including show breeches? 4 pairs that fit me, 3 of which I like. I have probably 3 other pairs that are a bit too small but Intemain optimistic

My breeches inventory is 11, but I can only use about 5-6 comfortably now due to fit and weather. I ride 4-5 days a week.

4 ovation eurotights- not the most durable but very comfy and I like that they are full seat tights that look more breech. They do run super short though.

1 smartpak piper full seats- waist tends to gape and they slip down without a belt but otherwise are reasonably comfortable.

2 kerrits winter tights- very comfy, seem to run a little long, these are my only knee patch breeches since I don’t find the seat shape on full seat kerrits very attractive

1 ovation slim secret full seat- pretty comfy, wish the fabric was a bit thicker. use these for showing. I’d buy more for schooling if they made more fun colors

2 Annie’s full seats- super cute but the seat material never really stretched out even after many uses and washes wo drying. Too small for me right now, but even when they weren’t the crotch always felt tight in the saddle like it needed to be hiked up due to the stiff seat material

1 Dover riding sport plaid fullseats- used to be my favorite breeches but currently too tight. Had another pair that died from a seat rip after 4-5 years. Very flattering and comfy. Just typing this I’m wondering why I haven’t bought another pair in a size up…

1 ELT full seat- cute styling but the fabric is a bit stiff/not stretchy but I found the cut comfy, just too small for me currently.

I’ve tried the ROMFs Serafina and the butt fit really weird on me. Also have never found ariats that fit. I have pretty wide hips and a comparatively small butt with a long torso, so probably just not right for my body
