Hunter Jumper A rated trainers Kitsap county, WA

Signature West is in Spanaway, but may be more the type of program that you’re looking for. http://www.signaturewestfarms.com/[/QUOTE]

Shannon is a terrific trainer and does a lot of the shows as well. You definitely can’t go wrong with her program!

OP - where are you going to be located? If you’re further south (Bremerton, Port Orchard, Gig Harbor area) then you can get to several barns on the other side of the Tacoma Narrows bridge relatively easily and that opens up a lot of options.

If you’re going to be in the Poulsbo/Bainbridge/Kingston area then it’s much easier to stick to the peninsula barns.

LovesHorses - I don’t know what your issue is, but you really come across oddly and pretty darn rude. There are multiple good programs out here and I would send a person to any of them without hesitation. Blue Heron, Sandamar, Ios, and Woodside are all good places and all go to the big shows. I have close friends who ride at Woodside and absolutely love the people and the program. I have close friends who ride at Sandamar and absolutely love the people and the program (and I mentioned that my daughter takes lessons there, though we don’t actually show with them because my daughter tags along with me to shows rather than following a barn). Ios is run by good friends who I think have an amazing group of people and a fun program, and I’ve also talked to Jenni at Ios about schooling my daughter at the shows that Sandamar’s not at when she’s older (and vice versa). Ios also has the hands down the nicest facility in the area with the (relatively) recent renovation. And Blue Heron (which I forgot about in my last post) is also a program that does a lot of the big shows.

You definitely don’t need to leave the peninsula to access good programs. They are all a bit different and each caters to a slightly different type of client IMO, but all are solid programs with good trainers and go to quite a few big shows. In addition, most of those programs have trainers on the other side of the water they work with in cases where they’re sending kids south or east to finals.

Seriously OP, reach out to me if you want more info. I’ve ridden over here for several decades and know the h/j people pretty well. I have no vested interested in any barns (other than my own, lol) and can give you some insights if you’d like help.

Was giving a recommendation based on the quality/level I would assume OP is used to on Long Island.

Yeah but Loveshorses if you don’t think Phil would be just as successful on long island as he has been at Indio and thermal and spruce meadows over the years, I just have to think you don’t know Phil. And he hasn’t just been competing himself, but had students, both children and adults, competing successfully at all the big west coast shows for decades.

There is a disconnect between OP indicating a desire for a “high level” barn (post 1) while showing sensitivity to price (post 15). The highest level barns that go to the destination shows are generally going to be pricier than the ones that stay in the region.

And I didn’t expect that given the OP’s insistence on high level barns… one comparable to Long Island. I have no idea what full service board and training costs on the Kitsap Peninsula (though I tried a horse at one of the barns near Poulsbo mentioned). I do know what those programs near NYC cost (or used to when I was there). All in all, I didn’t think the OP would get sticker shock!

I was also surprised by the initial post and the objection to price at the A hunter/jumper barns mentioned. I also still maintain that Karen O’Neal is an event trainer and competitor, not an A show hunter trainer and the barn in Kent does mostly eventing, but that’s in the “for what it’s worth” file.

I looked up Ios, since I wasn’t familiar with that name…oh, wow! What a gorgeous, modern, exciting facility! There are so many quality programs in WA (and OR) that can easily compete anywhere, in any company. Let’s hope the OP can find one that suits her and her daughter’s needs.
