Hunter-Type Stallion Suggestions for my QH girly?

I do like him (Saketini)! His owner seems to do a great job bringing his kiddos along. One of the sons had a clip of a cute hunter round, but I am still indecisive and considering some of the huntseat quarter horses. Always open to suggestions though!

TBs on the list:

  • Friend Or Foe - Smallwood Farm, VA
  • Capture The Magic - Royal Fox Stables, Nebraska
  • Saketini - FL
  • Favorite Bid - would have to track him down if he’s still available
  • Well Said - would have to track him down if he’s still available
  • Road To Happiness - was imported to FL a couple years ago - would need to look into him some more
  • Raven Sky
  • Baatesh - Avalon
  • Copy Cat Creek - Canada
  • Innkeeper - frozen
  • Belfry - local, 17 h
  • Sea Lion - frozen
  • Flashy Chelsey - 16 h

  • Show To Win - Stonehouse Meadows Sport Horses - Colorado
  • State Your Case - local, 17 h

QHs on the list (in no particular order):

  • Un Forgettable - had planned to use him, but Finale didn’t cooperate - have an appendix foal by him coming in 2025 - Mom is grey tb by Macho Uno
  • Allocate Your Assets - frozen icsi doses available (passed 12/23?)
  • The Luxury Line - young, doesn’t jump himself, but seems to have potential to make an athletic hunter-type, local
  • Im Willy Fabulous - young stud, doesn’t jump himself, but seems to have potential to make an athletic hunter-type, local & my vet works with him - she says he’s quite fertile
  • Full Medal Jacket - local, doesn’t jump himself, but seems to have potential to make an athletic hunter-type, black would be neat
  • So Riveting - frozen
  • The Next Detail - frozen, Oklahoma
  • Signature Of Honor - supposedly 2024 was his last season standing to the public, but worth a try potentially - liked his daddy, PS Sign The Card out of Billy Ringo (TB)

  • DGS Vintage
  • Al Get Your Shine On
  • Skys Blue Bently - Washington
  • Coats N Tails - Auburn, IL (same farm as Un Forgettable)

  • Hubba Hubba Huntin - N/GBED
  • Theres No Telling - local
  • Post Malone
  • Hotter N Scotch
  • Just Like Detail
  • Trade Rumors
  • You Could Be Next - supposedly no longer standing to the public
  • Truly Priceless - deceased - would need to check on frozen
  • Hot Ones Only - local
  • Wait A Darn Minute - Sorrel, 17 hh, Wisconsin
  • Good Better Best - local
  • Al Call You Later
  • Ultimo Minuto
  • Only Blue Sky - frozen??
  • Cool Ladys Man - young, local

I probably missed some QHs, but if anyone has any input on any of these or others, I’d love feedback!

Lots of nice options on both lists. Some of the tbs seem more jumperish/eventer-types. Many of the QHs don’t jump themselves, but many have the build and seem to have potential to produce athletic babies. A handful are AQHA / APHA (and Remarquez - TB / APHA), but I need to look more into that (want to stick to solid). My girl’s papers say chestnut, but she’s borderline liver chestnut (has the cutest dapples too). I specified that we need a large recip mare reserved because there are some big boys in consideration. My girl is definitely a pleaser. She can be a little spooky on a particularly windy day (probably safer to cross with a QH or quiet tb for a hunter baby), but she always gives 100%. Not that a jumper would be the end of the world haha.

I currently have an sBs yearling filly (hunter, three-ring prospect) and the Un Forgettable appendix baby coming in 2025. Mostly plan to do USEF shows, but might dabble some in the AQHA stuff with next year’s kiddo, as it has eligibility through various programs.

Thank you, everyone, for your time and thoughts!!

Also, I meant to say - Hi neighbor!!

Sounds like we have similar tastes in QH baby daddies!

I did pick Un Forgettable originally, but she wasn’t feeling it this Spring. :see_no_evil: Ideally, I would’ve liked to start a little earlier this year, but my vet fractured her pelvis (ouch!). We only tried twice with Finale before it started getting late in the season. You probably have a similar conundrum in Oklahoma to what we have here with the summer heat! We’re from Georgia and thought we had hot summers out there, but Texas heat is no joke haha!

I recognize several of the QH stallion names. While I have not seen Wait a Darn Minute in person, I have been to Stauffer’s and only have positive things to say about them. Scotch (dam sire) was older then, but easy going.

Very familiar with So Riveting-
Drop dead gorgeous
Super quiet mannerly temperament
Was shown quite a bit at large shows
His current owner is nice to work with.

I know when I spoke to Robin at Smallwood when I was vetting one of hers to buy, she said she thinks crossing onto a stock horse mare is where Friend or Foe is most useful. I would give her a call.

I bred my TB to Theres No Telling and I have a beautiful Hunter filly that will jump. I just backed her and she has the best mind ever (she didn’t get that from her momma) and is turning out to be rather large. She is 16hh now as a 2 year old.

On the list you gave I know Coats N Tails has passed so I believe that there is only frozen available. Truly Priceless I believe his owner has frozen of him as well, though I am not sure if she is keeping it for herself or selling it to others. She also has a very nice yearling colt by him who will hopefully make it into the show ring next year.
