I am now a fan of Japanese eventing!

Not to offend our US event coaching, but I would not recommend leaving German instruction in favor of American. Nor would I think they would want to leave the myriad of European upper level events in favor for the few upper level that occur stateside.[/QUOTE]

Ouch. Good point.

I just want them to come to Chester County, PA. I was thinking of all the equestrian Olympians from that area. Guess I should’ve been thinking of all the “winning” equestrian Olympians.

I think they’ll go where the money is. Why do you think all those chefs d’Equipe who coach teams of other country’s do so? The German’s Chef d’Equipe is not even German - he’s British. And it was very strange for me to see Chris Bartle on TV…I’ll never forget the tense atmosphere at YRC during the summer 2004 olympics.

Angela Tucker, who is the wife of the BBC Announcer, and one of the very most used judges in 4* level eventing dressage and a dragon of a judge, was the Japanese dressage coach for these Olympics. Couldn’t have hurt. Maybe DOC needs to hire her.

I was also really impressed with the Japanese riders (and horses!).

I can’t recall which horse of theirs fell on course. It was a bay horse, I believe, and came very close to having a rotational fall. The horse went down very awkwardly and scrambled up. It appeared to be lame in front when it walked off. Does anyone know how the horse is doing? I have not heard any updates and am hoping the horse is okay.
